Pure Class PvP build or Subclass PvP build?

Hi all.

Had this discussion with some guild mates and thought it would be a good question to ask here and gauge some responses and hopefully some healthy discussion.

With PvP in its current state, are you still sticking with a pure class PvP style or are you running with the current subclassing style for your build? Or are you running both?

I look forward to seeing all of your responses 🤙🏻

I ran a meta subclass build for a month and switched back to pure class since. My subclass build objectively had zero drawbacks, which felt extremely boring and unfair in Cyrodiil. Meanwhile, pure class is weaker, but it definitely feels more "balanced" because you have actual drawbacks. I know I'm intentionally gimping myself here, but a huge part of PvP for me is earning wins. I felt that with meta subclass builds, you either purposely throw or get severely overwhelmed to lose a fight. A build like Assassination + Animal Companion + Stormcalling/Restoring Light is so powerful in offense and defense that you can PvP while snoozing and still get kills. For some people that's fun, but it's definitely not for me.

Definitely an insightful response. I’ve been going back to pure class builds just because it feels more natural in my opinion and it’s also more rewarding when you can secure a kill without following the meta

I've run a Stormcalling / Siphoning / Ardent Flame build that was very effective in PBAOE damage, mobility, and sustain, but it was kind of boring.

I've been mainly playing 2 pure class builds:
    - Bleed Arcanist with Rending Slashes
    - AOE Templar with Biting Jabs and Rush of Agony

    Both are fun melee builds.
