Completely gutted since the Elsweyr chapter nerf nuke on major buff values 7 years ago as the entire skill use was founded on major protection's damage reduction

Utterly useless to a tank despite being a tank line skill, being an objective waste of 200 ult points to cast

The Bolstering darkness morph might as well not even exist for the "bonus" it adds, it only bolster deep disappointment that this skill is called an ult while somehow managing to be a worse yet more expensive option than your healing ult

Damage morph is barely serviceable and need to build all your kit around it to make it even viable

A synergy no one will ever really use outside Cyrodiil gate rush after breaking it because the rule of "Next to the tank is the worst place you can put yourself in" and nobody is going out of its way to use it if not funnelled through a chokepoint already

AoE too small for the unique snare effect to be effective and fully negated by a single dodge roll in PVP

They said in previous major skill rework that they'll take a look at the most unused skill, twice, and twice that ultimate wasn't even mentioned

I don't believe it will change this time either, it was dead in the water and left to rot for 7 years in a row

I don't even think ZoS is aware NB got a tank ultimate in the first place

Yeah this ult is just terrible. The fact that it never got a buff over the years is insane to me. Its radius is fairly small for an ultimate. Consuming implies overwhelming or eating something so itd be cool if it worked like hurricane

The synergy (AoE invis, 70% movement speed) is good for highly coordinated groups on paper, but overall the skill is a wash for damage, support, or tanking.

To be useful, I think it would either need a Magma Armor–level defensive buff or a more prominent support buff. It could cast a group in shadow, increasing their tankiness, damage, and resources, for example. Or a focus on resource return would be a beneficial support ultimate, and unique among other ults.

Its buns this skill needs a complete overhaul and it doesn’t need to be a ground aoe needs to be something that works like hurricane to even be a useable ultimate

Hopefully in the class refresh in 1.5 years time.

Last time it was any use was during vHoF first boss upon Morrowinds release, as it was a huge damage mitigation at the time.
Since then the mitigation has been nerfed, while over-all mitigation has improved and damage is now 5x what it was back then, healing probably similarly stronger, meaning mitigation is required less overall.

This is the hands-down biggest meme of a class ultimate in the game and it has been for literally 5 or more years.

That it somehow gets ignored patch after patch after patch is so exceptionally bewildering.
