Most days every new comment can be seen on page 1. Sometimes a few new comments appear on threads on page 2.
We simply do not have the volume of posts that I feel this request is necessary. I also don't believe that you are missing or aren't seeing new threads due to one or two ongoing conversations that you have grown bored of.
Again, this is their website so if they find this to be a priority for them over everything else they can spend resources on, then so be it.

Vanilla may already have such a feature but just haven't activated it. If they don't and say they will not provide one then that is their answer. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
Sure, it never hurts. I think what was offputting to me is that the request came with a swipe at another thread and a suggestion that it's run it's course and is off-topic, which shuts down the people in that thread and also people like myself who continue to read the thoughts on that thread even if I'm not posting. I even used that thread to help me decide when to buy Solstice. (I waited for a sale).
A general theme for your suggestions seems to be policing the behavior of others and reconciling your personal preferences with this being an MMO and there being other people around. While I understand the desire, the request could have been made without the expense of others.

Others were posting why they would like a hide feature which were very different reasons than mine. That is why I clarified what my motivating factor was... to keep newer threads on my page. I don't see how this was at anyone's expense. If there was a hide feature no one would even know that their thread was being hidden by some other posters.
The majority of threads on these forums are players making suggestions of what they would personally like to see. Not just me.
