Please add Voice Chat to PC with Crossplay

I wouldn't use it and I don't think I'd like to see the dev time wasted on something very few PC users would end up using. Anyone who wants voice chat on PC have already setup their options with discord or other programs and wouldn't give up their regular for an in game option that would leave them without an option each time it crashed.

If an option needs a way to disable it because so many players do not want it then maybe it's not really needed in the first place.

Here's my concern if they don't add it, especially will cross progression coming at the same time.

Say I run up my playstation account on my PC to run stuff with my PS guild. They're all in voice chat. How do I communicate? They move to PSN chat. Again, how do I communicate?

Sure, there's discord. Do you know how many times I've known any PS guild to use the voice chat on there, tho we've all have channels for years? Zero.

We can link our Discord account now, but afaik you can't use the chat from the console while playing a game. That means having an external device to use a 3rd party system just to talk. It’s a big ask to have the rest of your guild go to that much faff just so you can join.

What's the point of having crossplay if you’re still gonna segregate your playerbase because you can only talk to your own platform?

Literally nothing wrong with the idea of giving players more ways to communicate. I used to play console back in 2017 and it felt a lot more alive than on pc. Being able to go to the main towns and hearing people have conversations about whatever is very enjoyable.

Yes some people can be annoying, but you can mute specific players or just chose to turn it off entirely. Never understood why people are so against more social options in a MMO.

You can on the PS5. The option isn't available on PS4 though, and there is still a sizeable percentage of ESO players on the PS4. I can't speak to which Xbox consoles support it as I am not familiar with that platform. The few times I've seen PuGs attempt to use it, most find the convenience of in-game and/or PSN chat outweighs installing and cluttering their discord server list with random chat servers. Additionally, the Discord voice chat integration doesn't have per user volume controls. Last I used it, it only allowed you to mute the entire channel and/or balance game vs chat volumes.

Once you've linked your Discord account, your Discord servers show up alongside your party/messaging channels.

That's good to know, thank you!

I still don't think it's going to be a popular option when there's easier ways to do it tho

In-game voice chat is something I'd turn off and likely never use, so I personally have no interest in dev time being spent on it.

But I do see the point, that without a built in chat communication could be difficult between players from different platforms. I think console players might find themselves surprised at just how many PC players don't want to be in voice though... or who are in voice with their friends or guildies, but using discord or the like and probably wouldn't change their behavior... but having more options for communication wouldn't hurt if zos decides they want to add it. As long as in-game chat is something that can be turned off and never thought about again.

Please keep fixing the combat. It's good to fix the combat.

Here's where we see all the UK roleplayers get arrested for saying bad words. We thought the ai chat bans were bad enough lol
    I only use insightful
BG MMR should NOT reset, zos sponsored smurfing is a terrible design choice.
PvP needs more incentives, even simple purple/gold mats would suffice.

Just embrace the antisocial nature of ESO. There has been a communication gap for a long time. Many people don't even speak the same language and there is no translation. Minimize chat and beat your heads against mechanics until they figure it out a half hour later or just give up and drop group if you suspect they don't know.
