I'd like to come back to the Destruction staffs. In my opinion we should have a separate tanking staff, that doesn't impede any of the Destruction oriented elemental staffs.

I think a new Alteration Staff is the best solution. It would be ideal, because Armor spells, paralyze spells and other utilities like speed or slow are canonically already Alteration school spells and it makes so much sense to build around that.

All passives of the Destruction staff line can now be redesigned to focus on damage dealing (I mean it's in the name! DESTRUCTION. 😮‍💨) and emphasizing the respective element, while not being held back from having to provide utilities for tanking or support.
In that regard, I'd personally like to see a spell damage buff to using destro staffs, because this is essentially why they have fallen behind melee weapons oh so much and are rarely used by DDs in group content.

They wouldn't even need to add any new weapons, it's just another staff. The resting animation might need some inventiveness but aside from that.

This and 1h and rune are my picks for new weapons they could actually make. As you wouldnt need to make new models for every motif for either of them. 1h and rune would use existing 1h models and 3-4 visual effects for the hand depending on if they want to do a only magical elements or also include a magic damage variant.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I hate having a staff for tanking. Managing two resource pools is a pain and doesn’t make sense at least for the role in my vision of what kind of fantasy character they are. I disliked the hybridization changes as well.
Our characters can’t be jack of all trades and masters of them as well, it doesn’t make sense.

I wish snb wasnt completely sidelined.

My biggest hope with the Sword & Shield rework that we are bound to get, is that they find a way to make the weapon skills an actual trade-off between damage or survivability.

You can see on Low Slash where this is attempted, but it’s not enough, and front loading all of our damage into Bash just makes using anything other than Reverb feel bad.
