Why can't i get a complete for achieve ' Of ink and brine'?

My partner and i went into infinate archives together, we completed an arc boss and eventually got into 'thoat replicarium' cos he had his pages completed. We both used the hearts day memento,several times cos we just could not activate a complete.
If this is a known bug is there a workaround for it?

Really dont want to have to put in a ticket

When I entered Tho'at's chamber I used the tool before moving forward and engaging. I did use a companion and not a player teammate and it updated just fine.

ive done it on 6 accounts now not had an bug not let me do it so idk , ive used amulet everytime right before they've come out their portal to begin the fight

Did you actually kill Thoat? I first tried to use the amulet before killing her, and it did not work. But after killing it registered.

Same here, I used the amulet after killing Thoat, and it registered immediately.

I used it before killing her, and my partner did the same, and it worked for us.

Did you try it initially before or after she spawned? We did it immediately, so before.

I think I did it as I entered the chamber. I was going to kill her anyway, so I was just checking if it would work without it. The text on the achievement "Complete an arc of the Infinite Archive" lead me to believe that it should not work without killing because an arc is not completed without it.

Hm, thanks. That’s very odd then, that it works before the first Thoat spawns for some people but not for others. Since the text of the achievement also mentioned using it in the chamber, we just tried as soon as we got in. We did kill her after, but the game wouldn’t have known that we would when it was granting the achievement.

Perhaps something for ZOS to look into.

I used it as soon as I entered Tho'at's chamber, before taking any steps forward, and it counted. I had a Companion with me.

I wonder if it doesn't work if you're officially in combat. So maybe once she starts running to you, you have to wait until after you kill her.

I wonder if the difference between who can or can't get the achieve before fighting is whether or not they have previously defeated the Tho'at.

In my case, my partner and I did during our first arc, so we had not previously defeated the Thoat that run (or that day). We had both defeated a Thoat in prior runs on earlier days.

I've killed Thoat many times prior to this event, and it did not register for me when I used the amulet upon entering the chamber. May be I should have tried using the amulet once more to be sure, but I was just checking out of curiosity since I did not expect it to work before killing Thoat.

Why it's so different...
Was with companion, used before fight (just right after entering) - got achievement.

ive done it 4 more times since last post and not once have i ran into any issue i enter give npc few sec to talk and hit amulet achievement every time now on 10 accounts

When I did it on Playstation I'd moved a little into the room before I tried, tho still before combat started, and it wouldn't work. Had to wait til after the fight and then it was ok.

On PC I used it as soon as I loaded in without moving and that worked too

The place where you turn in the page collection side quest is not the correct place. It is where you fight Thoat, the Arc boss.

I had read this thread before I tried for the achievement, so I used the amulet before I engaged Tho'at. She hadn't appeared yet. It worked for me. To be clear, I used it immediately upon spawning inside the chamber. I didn't move forward first.

If I hadn't read this thread beforehand, I would have waited until after she was down based on the achievement text.

ETA: I had a companion with me.

Is there any reward for doing these achievements other than the event boxes? As in a title or skill style or something? Totally fine if not, just been wondering to be sure I don't miss out

I’m so glad someone created this thread. I did not even realize there were achievements for this event. I would have been so bummed if I found out later and wasn’t able to complete them.

I very rarely make it past the fourth boss and then Tho'at, so I was very happy yesterday when I actually made it on my first attempt - only to then leave the chamber without using the heart.

I felt so stupid when I read that I had to do this - way too late.

I felt even more stupid on the many subsequent attempts on which Lord Warden, Lady Thorn and other bosses were relentlessly making fun of me and my sorry attempts to get past them.

My "partner" wasn't another player, but Tanlorin and later Bastian, so maybe that was the problem? It shouldn't have been, of course.

to be fair it is the first new event/holiday achievements they have done in a long while lol

i think i noticed them in the game around 8 months ago or so and knew there was going to be a new event lol
