2nd Heart's Day Quest - Is this Bugged?

During the second Heart's Day quest, the quest giver mentions a couple on a bridge that we are supposed to help.

I am not sure if this is bugged, but I don't see this couple anywhere. She even says "enjoy the show" and some different music plays, so I'm assuming something is supposed to be happening. On my screen there was nothing.

Did anyone see what is supposed to have happened here? If so can you let me know what happens?

The couples are on the grassy area to the side of the bridge, but are not interactable. I also didn't see anything happen when she said, "enjoy the show," but I did hear the music.

Thank you for the information. I did see a couple over there but also checked to see if they did anything, but they didn't move or really do anything.

I wonder if something was supposed to happen based on our quest choice, instead of them standing in place.

I did think it might be a bit bugged, because otherwise why have the choice of instruments to pick up for Samara and then have her say, "Enjoy the show?"

I plan to do the quests on another character during the week, so I'll see if anything happens then.

I assume it's the two pairs of people standing just off to the side of the bridge, but no they don't do anything no matter what instrument is used.

So wondering if it's bugged or if it's that lacklustre.

Thank you for confirming. Why have the NPC say "Enjoy the show" if there is no show? lol!

Yeah, that was disappointing. I was expecting something like Sanguine's quest for the Jestival.

I took a second character through this quest today. This time I chose the mean/violent instruments and this time, after the song was done, one of the picnic goers was lying on the ground. I didn't see it happen, though, so no idea if they swooned, tripped, or were pushed. Before the song, they were standing; after the song, they weren't.

Thanks for trying that out. Interesting to know there was at least some change. If they don't stay down very long I could have just missed it, because the npc said the couple was having a picnic ON the bridge, rather than NEXT to the bridge, so I first was looking for NPCs there.

The one npc reaches out with her arm and the other npc against the tree collapses. Reminded me of Darth Vader's force choke, but I’m not sure if that’s what they were going for.

It happens quite quickly so you have to head to the couple by the tree as quick as possible after the “enjoy the show” line.

So that's it? If you use the horrible dangerous cursed daedric instruments, it will cause lovers to do something as evil as... shoving each other?

My, my. The Dibella cultists were right - Sanguine is a wicked scoundrel! :p

When I ran a character through who selected the ''evil'' instrument option, looking at the couples, I saw one of NPCs punch the other one in the stomach. It was the couple not standing near the tree.

Well, that's something, at least. I realize ZOS isn't going to show a violent, graphic scene (particularly not during Hearts Week), but considering what the instrument vendor told us could happen, there's a bit of a disconnect there. Maybe they should just leave Sanguine out of these festivals.

February 14th is his summoning day though. Rather then leave him out, what they should have done is let the player choose how they wanted to celebrate Hearts Week. To go with the Mara way or the Sanguine way. So players who want nothing to do with the more darker holiday can be happy with the Mara stuff. While Sanguine is tempting players to come to HIS party. Also making it doable on multiple characters would give people a reason to do the quest again if they want to see both.

Wasn't there something about the instruments turning people into frenzied beasts or something like that? If they wanted to keep it less violent, the lovers could have magically turned into actual animals (predator/prey) at least, with one chasing the other, with the probably deadly outcome off-screen?

Not that it would be the best ending I could imagine, since it would still feel a bit too mild for Sanguine, but it's better than just punching each other.

You're right. I didn't mean he didn't have a place in the world, especially at this time of year. I merely meant they don't need to insert him into the Mara festival. A festival of his own would have been a great alternative, giving players options on which they wanted to do.

I can't recall exactly how the vendor put it, but the gist of it was people would be driven into a frenzy. The animal idea would have been a way to do it and keep within the limitations of the game engine and rating. I was thinking about the public dungeon, Sanguine's Demense, and how lurid it comes across, all without being too graphic. Having Sanguine show up here and there on the landscape, and in festivals, all for some light frivolity, doesn't quite do him justice. I'm not even a Sanguine fan, but I do think if the Daedric princes are going to show up, they deserve accurate representation.

This game is rated M. If Sanguine would pervert attraction in such a way that the NPCs would tear each other apart animalistically, they very well could have killed one another.

Lately the writing for the game more seems like it's for 13 to 15 year olds at most though.

The description of attraction becoming so intense it ends with murder actually reminded me of the novel "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" from 1985, where an insane perfumer kills people for their odour to create the "perfect perfume" that causes most intense attraction - and when he uses it on himself at the end of the story, a whole crowd of people literally becomes frenzied and tears him apart.

They also made a movie of that in 2006. Rating in my country: Ages 12+

I'm aware that the description for the frenzy meant that people could literally tear one another apart--I think the vendor even says so--but does showing that fit the M rating? Seems a little extreme to me, but I don't make the rules.

I don't expect a gorey scene, despite the M rating noting "blood and gore." But they could have put on more of a show than what was a fast punch and fall-down given we are supposedly witnessing the consequences of an item cursed by a Prince.

I am trying not to come across as petty but if an NPC says "enjoy the show" to announce something interesting is going to happen, it should very well be noticeable and it should match the dialogue about the consequences as written.

If you're a vampire or member of the Dark Brotherhood you can get a close-up cut scene of your character violently murdering innocent people, any where and any time you can find them. I really don't think the lack of reaction to the song was because of the game's age rating or concerns about upsetting players with violence.

When I did the quest I picked the safer option but I was still surprised that I didn't see anything happen at all. Fortunately I had the sound on at the time so I did hear the music, but that was it. None of the NPCs moved at all. I was genuinely expecting the quest giver to be angry that it didn't do anything, but apparenlty it worked as intended so I assume an animation that was supposed to play wasn't working.

You aren't being petty. I agree that when an npc says 'enjoy the show' there should be a show to enjoy. I don't think the single npc suddenly being on the ground was adequate, either. I did wonder why there wasn't something more, and thought perhaps it had to do with the rating, that's all. Whatever the reason, there wasn't much to see, and I think that's unfortunate.

Yeah, I forgot about the kill cam mechanic for Dark Brotherhood (never played a vampire, so didn't know they had one, too). I also thought there would be a reaction from Samara when nothing happened, but no.

The whole scene is odd, really. Certainly not like any picnic I've ever been on! It does make me wonder if it's bugged or just lackluster.
