See title.

I usually don't murder my friends, but I need to for this very romantic and festive achievement:

Any suggestions?

Maybe a world boss in a newer zone as they do a lot of damage? Probably would mostly work if others are there so you have time to revive them.

Find Gothmau, oh wait they ignore him and let you die instead.

I'm guessing a vet base game dungeon should be pretty doable with the front trash pulls for most. The companions might not handle it, but tbh you're probably better off trading duels with a friend or guildmate alternating reses.

My plan is to find a small patch of land/rock surrounded by lava, stand on it, summon a companion and let them die in lava. Hopefully they are stupid enough (I cannot believe I'm saying this) to stay in lava since they are often content to stay in enemy's AoE.

I'm thinking trying various places in Stonefalls and/or that lava area in Coldharbour near the place where we go to save Vanus Galerion.

Scratch that. Lava does not kill companions. I tried.

Make sure you're using one with a melee weapon and then attack a dungeon, story, or world boss with a lot of AOE. They won't get out of it. Pick one that you yourself can handle easily and won't interrupt you a bunch so you can rez them.

Personally, I recommend Havocrel, Duke of Storms. He's the final boss in Oblivion portals. He has immunity phases so there's a stopgap to how quickly he can be burned down (although it's not very long). And during that immunity phase, being within melee range and attacking him will cause you to take damage. The companions will keep on attacking him anyway, last time I checked, and die fairly quickly as a result. Since it's an easier world event the boss doesn't hit the player super hard either. You might even be able to rez other people's companions too. I think the Mirrormoor Incursions in West Weald will probably also lead to companion deaths, although stuff does hit hard in that one so you'll want to do it when they are multiple people around.

I summoned a Companion and removed their armor. Then I tried lava, then World Bosses, then a Dragon. They just ignored my Companion.

Tomorrow I may try a Harrowstorm. There has to be a way.

It may help to remove their armor and unbar any of their healing and protective skills, and don’t accidentally heal them with your own healing skills.

As @spartaxoxo suggested, Havocrel, Duke of Storms is the way to go. Just make sure to remove companion's armor and any healing skill they have. I did not remove healing skill, and Bastian missed several close calls.

Also, make sure that you have a shield for yourself so that you can stand in AoEs while resurrecting. The downside is some of the Havocrel attacks are interrupting the resurrection process. So, multiple attempts might be required if you are soloing it.

I plan on using Telvanni Peninsula Herald Seekers to kill my companions. I remember them deleting Sharp-As-Night fairly quickly.

i used one of the craglorn delves as i was doing the quest lol

i just unequipped all healing spells from my companion so they had no self heals, and just sat back and stayed alive, and then rezzed them when they needed to be rezzed

if you didnt want to have the companion kill things too fast, then unequip all weapons and skills from them too

You can also group up with someone, duel each other and resurrect. Or if you do not want to duel, fall off a cliff witht the resurrecter standing at the bottom ready to res.

The quickest/easiest place I found was running the dragons in N. Elsweyr. As somebody else mentioned, take their armour off.

There were lots of people running dragons yesterday, all with companions, all doing the same thing for the achievement - you don't even need to rez your own companion, other ungrouped people and other people's companions also count for the achievement.

Think I managed to get the achievement in 15 minutes or so - the majority of the time was spent running between the dragon sites and wayshrines.

Not sure, since I just grouped with a guildie. But as you can't kill them, they don't die out of combat, and rez by themselves if combat ends, it might be tricky.

Maybe: S&B with taunt, no armor, big boss (preferably with other players around to take aggro after companion dies) like Elsweyr dragons, invisibility/shadow cloak (NB Shadow skill line) to ensure you don't get aggro, slot rez CP, possibly Restoring Light from Templar (20% faster rez), maybe even wear Kagrenac's Hope set, rez while combat continues.

Same here, but I suspect OP asked this question because they don't want to duel players. The companion option is there, so OP wants to do it that way.

I tried a WB which looked to be working until someone else came along, healed them and killed it. Tried a couple but I guess everyone's looking for a quiet WB!

Then I tried IA because that's another achievement anyway, but health didn't really move much and I got bored, so just finished the arc for the box.

I found dragons worked best because there were usually a few other companions there too so I could get 3 or 4 a time

XD Is this so funny just to me?
While some players argue that companions are utterly useless cause they constantly die, others have troubles getting them to die. Even suggesting to take off armor!
    This is just awesome LOL

You do not need to remove their armor and skills. Just do Y+right click when combat starts (not sure what it is for controller, check your control settings) and lead them into AoEs. Infinite archive cycle bosses would work, especially if it’s something like yoln. Skyreach can also overwhelm companions and the enemies spawn aoes on death. As a bonus, can take advantage of their increased exp gain since Skyreach is a leveling spot.

Another option would be to give them a taunt, Y+left click towards an enemy and then Y+right click so that the enemy will attack them and the companion will do nothing about it.

Dragons and Mirrormoors would work too.

companions are almost unkillable in the archive because they were frankly useless before they made that change

craglorn group delves, or group dungeons, would work fine for killing the companions pretty easy (and those are instanced so you dont have to worry about someone else coming along)

Thanks for all the hints! I got my least-liked companion (obviously -> lowest level companion I have) into a dungeon, without any armor, weapons and skills, and then watched enemies gruesomely hacking them into pieces. Ten times. Still took a bit longer than I had hoped; a lava ditch, if possible, would surely have been an easier (and possibly more merciful) solution :p Happy Heart's Week!

The most effective way to use your companion for this is to equip sword and board to them, equip only taunt skill, and no armor for them.

Find a spot with elites or better enemies and command them to attack like a pet. I forget what the default key is for command; mine is set to Q + Left Mouse.

You will need to make sure you can survive long enough to revive them so a tanky build is suggested for this.

I've been fighting dragons with a companion using a taunt, would die at some point mostly when dragon fly and shout a line of element in the center. Sometime they somehow survive but some other time they just die again and again.

Was also running to rez any other people companions I saw dead as it works even when not in group with them.

you can rez players you dont have to use companions for this and lava part take few mins for both to get achievements

I managed to rez Bastian twice during City of Ash I, first boss fight (guy who throws down a circle of fire while fighting). I had to time it so I started rezzing Bastian just after the boss hit me, then I had just enough time to rez Bastian before the boss hit me again.

The Duke of Storms sounds like a good idea; I'll have to try that for the other 8 rezzes.

you can simply rez another player you dont have to only do it with companion's
