Why is Communication so bad from Devs??

I play this game daily and have for years (XboxNA), yet why am I blindsided by an all-day game outage? Why do I not get a notice in game the day before at the very least that maintenance is happening? And now even when it's down, it's not clear for everyone that the game is offline for every platform and region? I try to log into the game and am met with a generic error. Couldn't you tell in the game that it's in the middle of maintenance without directing me to contact support? And then when I look at the forums, maybe it's clear to Devs, but 'Account System' maintenance does NOT clearly tell me that this is a GLOBAL outage. I know stuff hits the fan and there are emergencies that require immediate maintenance, but that is not denoted. There is no explanation at all. Do you not want people to play your game?? Why do you treat your customers so poorly?

There wasn't planned game maintenance, I logged on both Playstation and PC today with no problems. Whatever happened was an xbox problem and unexpected

Same (on PC and no issues). Communication has actually been pretty great lately if I'm honest.

Support has been really nice and puntual with me so far.
My only complaint is about this forum moderators deleting messages that don't violate any rules.

    It hasn't been.

Perhaps if you indicated what the error message was you were getting when logging in people would be able to help you.

Also no issues - from UK on PC - on and off all day at various points. Could be xbox specific or regional.

I had seen on the forums folks from PC, EU, and PS not able to login, but while the maintenance windows was 6am EST to 4pm EST, the outage was over at around 10am. It was global, but shorter than expected. Still no notice of what and why they had maintenance, must less a heads up.

I think people are just used to how poor communication is. If you play other mmos/service games and compare to ESO, the difference is stark. Just look at the forum categories created by ESO. There is a maintenance announcements section that hasn't been updated since last year. Then they have an events section they stopped curating both without any notice. They are good at certain things like major updates and roadmaps for the year, but that is directly tied to people spending money. On the day-to-day stuff it's poor and of course they don't bother responding to messages like this on the forums. I'm sure they are spread thin with all the restructuring and if they are going to cut back on things it's fine, but just ghosting us is not.

It said clear as day on my Xbox (EU) yesterday/last night that the servers would be offline for maintenance today.

There are absolutely communication issues with zos, and that's always been true and used to be even worse... and it's good to keep calling them out on it and pushing them to improve...

but there simply has not been an uncommunicated maintenance recently, nor a server-wide outage that affected all players.

There is currently maintenance, I'm not sure if that's the issue... but this is planned maintenance that was communicated ahead of time.

If the issue is something else, as someone suggested above, it might be helpful to post the error message one is receiving to assist with troubleshooting.

This. Everytime there is maintenance it shows up on the launcher before you even enter the game. Do people just intentionally ignore these announcements?

To be completely honest, OPs post seems like bait.

Maintenance happens...very few people get just how complicated running a MMO is...

No, you all are just necroing a thread that was talking about a completely different issue. OP was talking about an unexpected Xbox outage that happened on the 3d of February. It WAS a thing. And it DID happen. But it was not a planned maintenance and had nothing to do with that.

Why y'all necro a thread today to talk about irrelevant things... Idk. Certainly shouldn't be criticizing OP for not reading or baiting in that case though. This was a one page thread, the first message is right there...

Actually, OP posted in this thread *today*, bringing the thread back up to the top of the forums and drawing responses and likely leading to some confusion about what the issue is, as there was a server-wide planned maintenance today.

Anyway, if there was an xbox outage a few days ago, that's not the same thing as planned maintenance and shouldn't be confused with an issue that zos is able to communicate about ahead of time. Not to mention, the original post references a "global outage" on "all platforms", which simply has not occurred, which is what people are trying to explain.

Of course when unexpected outages or login issues or whatever occur, zos should absolutely respond quickly and communicate about them. They don't always do this well. Not being on xbox, I don't know what happened and can't really speak to that.

Fair enough, OP was indeed the one to bring the thread back, though the context remained the same. OP was still talking about February 3d and not today's maintenance. The EST times don't correspond to today's maintenance.

That said, it doesn't look like OP paid much attention to previous comments either. So whatever I guess. Doesn't look like "bait" to me though. People constantly get angry or frustrated at the maintenance, and in this case I think OP just doesn't understand what was happening.

Yeah for sure, personally I'm not looking to criticize OP or anything, just trying to explain. If one is having trouble logging in it's helpful to post the exact error message, since there's no guarantee that other players are all seeing the same thing and having the same issue.

Today's maintenance was only about disabling the Whitestrake's Mayhem campaigns, plus the maintenance banner has been up since Friday.

I assumed he was talking about yesterday's maintenance because he never mentioned the 3rd Feb in his post. How are we supposed to know that if he doesn't say it? Mind readers?

looking at the date and time post was made could help track down when something happened as the post was made on the 3rd you'd assume he didnt travel back in time to make an post about something that took place days later ...

Didn't notice that either tbh. I assumed it (the thread) had been posted that day (9th).
