Repair Trolling

Scenario - Solo player goes to an empty uninhabited keep then proceeds to break the wall down, then enters the keep and stealths and waits. As soon as a player enters the keep and discovers the wall is down they will automatically start repairing the wall. Stealth player now goes into action by placing a siege and hitting the broken wall to prevent the player from repairing, the repairing guy then proceeds to run to set up siege and burns it but the solo player has used cloak and is now sieging again from a different angle so then you run and burn that siege and so it carries on over and over again because you can't catch said troll running, streaking and using cloak all the time. This can take up to an hour until you can kill the troll. It's disruptive to game-play and frankly just annoying. The person doing this is not in a group, neither are they helping their alliance, nope they want to annoy you probably because they think they're making a name for themselves because it is the only thing they ever do. Whilst in a huge group of players you always see said troll lying in the grass face down because that is not their talent, no their talent is to aggravate and enrage other people creating toxicity. This is allowed in Cyrodiil, it is not going against your Code of conduct but it is creating aggression and toxicity. Surely this is something you want to prevent but alas it is allowed. Cyrodill is just a troll haven these days, most players just want to grief others because they think it's "funny". All I see is a circus show that is being allowed because the developers don't really care. These trolls should get a warning (no need for a ban) just a rap over the knuckles to stop them from doing absurd actions like this. That is all that is needed, stop one and undoubtedly you are going to stop all of them. If your intention is to capture the keep solo by all means go ahead but that is not their goal. If you did this and an entire 12 man group was waiting to rush in I would understand GG. I think most people enjoy pvp but when this infantile behavior shows up it's pretty much just dumb. It seems to be a growing phenomenon as more and more people are doing it now. So let's just ignore it, it is allowed of course until every player is doing it just for a laugh.

This has been allowed since launch. Just because someone wants to play solo and not participate in zerg v ball group combat doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to play in cyrodil. One of the few solo and smallman type gameplay left for cyrodil is to go to back keeps and seige from resources. Removing that would be a terrible move.

There are plenty of counters that you are ignoring at your own peril. You could carry detect pots, speed pots that can be made at the gates. You can slot darkflare or magelight anytime. You could also just show up while its flagged and counter seige. However it sounds like your faction was too slow to respond to some guy sieging for 10+ mins.

My point is that it's absurd and ridiculous to do this and pointless. It's done only to troll and annoy. More people are doing it because it is allowed. Please don't bother to reply if you're only here to place snarky comments. Pretty obvious that people know how to use their skills and defend a keep. Don't assume.

Yes it's annoying, but trolls like this have been around since release. Don't run towards him openly, but sneak up from behind, kill the troll, wait a minute or two if the troll has set up camp and repeat until the troll loses interest. Simple.
    And that's not a snarky comment ;)

and you created entire thread about it. From other point of view, they could be waiting for support and then you appeared and started repairing the wall. If you can't kill him, it is skill issue. If you don't want to waste time - just leave this keep. You just fabricated what this another player thinks and it maked you sad, because it is not line up with your vision.

From my perspective, sieging some keep just to lit some keep up and destruct a faction is a trolling, but others think it is strategy ;)

My question would be why that troll bothers with sieging, instead of just killing the repairer, much more efficient, will also keep the wall from getting repaired.

People saying "this has been around since release" are forgetting that each ballista used to take up its own inventory slot, so your time in a keep doing this was inherently limited by your commitment to filling your inventory with siege, and then by the hard cap on inventory space. Now each inventory space can be 20 ballistae for orders of magnitude more siege than it was possible to pack before, allowing for people to do this for effectively unlimited periods of time whereas before you could manage it for much less time (because in this scenario, you do not have time to repair your siege).

This isn't me making a value judgement on the behavior. Stackable siege impacted a lot of gameplay in similar ways, but to say it's "been like this since release" is simply untrue.

The solution is to leave the solo player alone. What are they going to do? Take the keep by themselves? Just tell the faction in chat about it and go do something else. If they don’t respond to an open keep, then that’s not your problem.

Thanks for all your lovely comments. Trolls have complete control. Elder Trolls Online :) A company that encourages bad behavior and never moderates it's game. Very true that people should just walk away. <3
