@aetherix8 Just going to agree to disagree. Some PVE players do stay in PVP after events, but in my experience, there is not the influx to the point that the population noticeably increases. During Whitestrakes a week ago, I saw many players I did not recognize and others that I recognized as primarily PVE players. It was fun for me, as it felt for a minute like PVP used to be. Probably not so much for them as I saw their names mostly in the kill feed.

This week, its back to the same 20 or so PVPers in my faction that I always see in GH. On the other side, its the same enemies/opposition. We carry on as if Whitestrakes never happened. Same choke-point battles. Same silly ring-around-the rosie resource fights. Same push and pull on both sides of the map. Same drama, same jokes, same old GH. If these events added more players, it would be visible.

I think @playsforfun nailed it. That is the Cyrodiil I remember when I started down the PVP path. Back when Snipe desyncs were the worst thing you had to worry about. :)

@El_Borracho my point was simply that the lack of new players in Cyrodiil isn’t related to PvP events, but to Cyrodiil itself. These events are very efficient at attracting crowds unseen at any other time, but those players don’t stay once the event is over because the current Cyro is just too broken and noob unfriendly. GH needs some serious balancing.

I used to play Cyrodiil, then with the recent updates I noticed everyone just using Assassin, Animal Companions, Storm calling trees, running / streaking away and then coming back in with their quick combo and running / streaking away again to build up their ults and merciless resolve.

Chasing players for 2 minutes at a time is not my idea of fun sorry.

Until this stupid meta changes, I wont be back. Even with their plethora of issues, BGs are much better IMO.

To find out what the solution is you can take a look at Guild Wars 2. To summarize it: Structured, balanced and fair combat design with classes (and not just updating whole PvP with random underthought ideas like Subclassing all of a sudden) and a sane combat gameplay where it is not about hiding your animations and who can press more buttons in perfect 1s cooldowns, and how fast you can turn in circles.

There's an achievement in GW2 you can get if you kill a dev in PvP. A guildie of mine got it playing in the wee hours of the morning during Australian time.

There could also be the same achievement for ESO but how could we tell when the devs don't PvP in their own game except during a livestream where they seem clueless about how their skills work?

At the end of the day, when you take care of the PvP community they will be the ones that stick around after everyone else has completed the latest content. Along with the daily casuals and the hardcore trial lovers, they are the permanent base of players that will get the game through the quiet times. ZOS just needs to take better care of them and the population will return.
