It's been 10 years. Can we please open up all hairs/ styles/ colors to all races finally? Maybe touch up the create a character a bit. Show IN GAME LIGHTING when making a character so we can see if they look like a potato or not. So many other mmos have similar options, including free ones, like WWM. Just a thought. <3

Yes please, seconded. In-game NPCs already have all kinds of hair colours (looking at you, dark-haired Altmer). And needing a token just for a change of hair colour may make money but is seriously outdated design and simply a nuisance.

I'd add to free up the gendered hairstyle restrictions, too. All the new ones are already free for all, and it's a world in which both genders can have all kinds of hair. E.g. there's no reason women need bangs or layers in their long straight hair and men can't have them.

Elder Scrolls is not the real world, the games that come after and have years after keep the same style of gendered hair, e.g. morrowind/oblivion/skyrim. It would not make sense to free "gendered hairstyle restrictions" when keeping in-lore with the game. I would be 100% against that, next you start adding rainbow unicorns and all sorts of other lore-breaking things when ESO has been rather good on that kind of thing so far.

It would absolutely make sense. This game is set like 1000 years in the past. The idea that hair styling customs couldn't possibly have changed in hundreds of years doesn't make much lore sense and is mostly done out of gameplay conventions. Many hairstyles in this game can be worn by anyone.

My brother in Christ, I can slap on a Molag Bal polymorph and, along with my two Daedric pets, my magic bear, and my companion in Mannimarco cosplay, loudly blow a trumpet in the middle of Blackwood and no one bats an eye. And have you seen the mounts in this game? There’s a horse that farts sparkles as you hold a plate of cake in one hand while riding. Rainbow unicorns would be a step down.

The lore is past broken. It’s been powdered and scattered to the winds. If a male Breton with a 20” blue ponytail breaks your immersion that much, MMOs might not be the best choice of game for you.

100% for this and fully unlocked hairstyles. And I feel like it would be a very simple addition too - add a bunch of new NPCs (or repurpose unused ones) with the only function to them accepting gold for an ability to open your character creator where you can only change hair (and maybe stuff like ear rings, which also shouldn't be gendered btw).

I guess it didn't bother me that much in the beginning. And I wouldn't want to go through character creation all over again.

As for me, I use gamepad mode and character creation sliders are garbage in that UI. My character was perfect other than her hair color and I didnt want to risk not getting her overall look that good again.

Feel like that will be unlikely because of the cosmetics bundles we have in crown store. Why would they give us something to use for free when we can pay them 1000 crowns to get access to the hairstyles.

It's more likely they will give us a Cosmetic Pack: Hair Colours.

I do want them to adjust all the gendered cosmetics though. Which will require some adjustment work, but someone at ZOS should have the time to do such a thing and it would make players happy. There are hairstyles/adorments that are locked to male I want on female and vice versa. Like why can't my male khajiit have flower adornments and several earrings?
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

As useless as it might seem. It would be nice to change your default hair without an appearance change, give new hair colors. Maybe they can make some exclusive hairstyles that can be added to your collection. It'd also give a new gold sink in the game

Hell, even WoW, which is similarly heavily monetized, lets you go into a barber shop for normal gold currency. And change EVERYTHING about your character aside from race and name. Which imo, is the best way to go about it, because this is some basic appearance stuff that doesn't impact gameplay.

If I get a nice new outfit for real money, but now I think maybe it would look nicer on my character if they were male/female, why shouldn't I be able to go and quickly change that? Why can't I adjust body type again, to reflect that my character ate too many sweetrolls? Or maybe they got more buff after all those Fighters Guild quests?

But not being able to change hair color especially, is just very outdated and unnecessary. Funnily, I would have spent a LOT more crowns, if I could have properly done that without buying a token. As it stands, I often skip on hairstyles because they don't fit all the other bits, including color.

Gendered hairstyles have absolutely nothing to do with the lore. They have to do with the real world biases of the people who developed the games at the time. Biases that society has been developing beyond. ESO has no gender restrictions on many types of armor and outfits. It makes absolutely no sense to restrict hair by gender. Hair styles are for everyone.

Needless to say, I am all for adding an in game hair stylist and lifting the restrictions on hair. (I'd also love it if they'd stop making the lightest pale blond hair color on high elves turn a mud gray on new hair styles >_>)

ETA: And for the love of the divines, more long hair on the masculine character model please! Also open up more short hair styles for feminine characters!

@ArchangelIsraphel Actually I'd enjoy seeing specific traditions/differences in Tamriel's cultures also when it comes to hairstyles. And if some of them have specific hairstyles or clothes that are tradionally typical for only a specific gender (or social class, as another example, or profession, or similar), I'd like to see that, when it comes to npcs. It can then also be used to characterize an npc if they choose to not follow these cultural norms. Take Mirri as a (subtle) example: The attire she wears as a houseguest was originally introduced as male Dunmer clothing and could only be seen worn by male Dunmer in Vvardenfell. Still, as an adventurer in need of practical clothing, she wears it, and that does tell us a bit about her.

That said, there's a difference between culture and biology (or nature); and obviously, (almost) everyone grows hair on their head. So it's entirely a personal choice what hairstyle to have. And therefore, I'm also for making all styles available for player characters regardless whether they utilize the male or the female body model.

It got to the point where I was making all my characters on PTS, just so I could buy respecs for free there until I got them just the way I wanted in actual in-game lighting. But then PTS changed so NA has it maybe 8 weeks out of the entire year, which means I don't have access to any of my collectibles that I may want to use to make sure they look right that way (since hair colors are not standardized across styles, looking at you specifically Seafarer's Crowning Trim). I feel bad for all the console people who don't have access at all, regardless of region!

Honestly when I first moved to ESO after playing Rift for years, the lack of barbershop system was such a disappointment and still is.
The fact it still hasn't happened, and seems like it probably never will happen, is a real bummer because I love changing up my style.
