We need a more user friendly way to choose Ignore on the Forums

If a poster has their profile hidden it takes a few steps to go to Profile > Edit Profile > Ignore List > then type their name in. It would be so much simpler if we could just right click their avatar and have "ignore" as one of the menu options.

On the list of things I'd love to see coding time dedicated to, I can't think of what would be lower lol.

I think I've ignored one person in over a decade. It's also kind of useless. As much as I'd like to mute a few people that I feel focus more on stirring up trouble than providing engaging conversation about the game, you still end up seeing the other side of those coversations (and I think you also see the ignored person's content if they get quoted?).

To be fair, I don’t think ZOS codes the site. I’ve seen it mentioned a few times they’re constrained to what’s possible with Vanilla.

But yeah, ignoring is pointless. Put my first person on ignore recently and it’s done nothing.

3rd party, yes. I don't think much is to be done, unless the person is breaking the rules.

Much like ignoring in the game. Minimize chat or take a break from the forums. pChat has a lot of customization on PC, auto minimize/text window visibility cooldown speeds.

How about an automatic ban for the most ignored forum user? :*

I agree. In 6 years I have ignored one person who devolved into a personal attack instead of addressing the point I was making. I sometimes see them still replying to me when someone else quotes them though, so whatever.

I have a pretty high tolerance for disagreeing with people over a video game though. I also tend to view people post-by-post and I can disagree with someone on one thread and support them in another.

I do see that some get into more conflict than others though. I find it unfortunate if you find yourself constantly needing to ignore people.

That's all fine but they should make is easier for those that would find the feature helpful.

To be fair, the only reason I ignored was to try and clean up the forum as I wasn't interested in the posts they create. Didn't function as expected.

Followed by a ban for the forum user with most ignored people.

No, but seriously. It's one of those "if everyone around you is the problem, then maybe you're the problem" type things. I mean, sure, there is the occasional low effort troll around these parts. And sure, most of us have a few people on the ignore list. And the ignore function is also simply not that great. But also... How often does one need to ignore people on the forums to need even easier reachable shortcuts for it? We don't even have that MANY people here, and especially not that many new users. The forums have kind of been a space for the older vets for a while.

And when it comes to those regulars, while I find quite a few of them a bit frustrating and annoying occasionally... That's just life. Certainly some people here find me annoying. That's also life. This is a place where we discuss and sometimes people argue, and sometimes we don't align on things. It's not all worthy of an ignore though. Really some people should spend a bit more time playing the actual game instead of playing and trying to win the forums imo. Not that I'm policing people's habits. But hey, if being here isn't a pleasant experience, it only seems reasonable to minimize the time spent here.

And to add to the actual constructive feedback, I also think a harsher ignore would be more helpful here. Something more akin to a block. The current ignore is really pointless, and you could just as well ignore literally every forum user, and still experience the forums literally exactly as they were before. It does nothing about how they interact with you, you see their comments and posts... It's pointless.

I don't have anyone ignored at the moment but I have in the past and was considering it now, but decided it wasn't necessary at the moment. I wish they would make it so we can't just click and read ignored posts but rather would have to take the player off ignore to see their posts. That would take away the temptation to give their posts a peek!

Being ignored isn't against the posting guidelines. o:)

There would have to be an actual proven infraction to justify a ban.

    Sounds like a self-control issue.

I wish someone would follow me around for free and slap cookies out of my hand though. Especially ones I don't even like, like Oatmeal Raison that I eat anyway.

To be honest I'm surprised we still use forums at all ...but sure I'm all for more functionality...I know that they use to use the Vanilla forum suite...but they can easily upgrade the forum software and keep the current look.

I admit my self control for not looking at ignored posts could be better! And I bet I'm not the only one! That's why it would be nice if they made it harder to peek!

As far as oatmeal raisin cookies... they are one of my favorites!

I'm going to be honest, even if they did this I'd just go through the extra steps and look anyway if I was tempted lol.

Never ignored anyone, never even vaguely felt the need to.

Having said that, I do sometimes give myself a ban, these Forums can be a depressing read quite often. 🫣

I also wonder why so many people now have their profiles set to private, it never used to be like that, this suggests to me that maybe there is more negativity going on behind the scenes than I realise.

I only ever look at a person's profile when their comments make me curious as to how long they've been around. <3
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Yea, I may too but at least it would slow me down!
