The Elder Scrolls Online v1.42.2.0 (Xbox)/ v.2.81/1.62 (PS4/PS5) fixes issues identified post-Update 48 launch. The second incremental patch for Update 48 address issues in Eastern and Western Solstice and Base Game content. We are fixing several bugs related to quests and quest progression. You will also see some Writhing Wall updates. While the event is over, The Writhing Fortress is back starting today until January 28.

We also have additional fixes to address jittering issues from the Combat Animation Memory Reduction. We are still going through fixing issues caused through Combat Animation Memory Reduction. If you see more issues related to this, please make sure to report them and note reproduction steps.
This is the first incremental patch for 2026. As a reminder, this is the start of PC/Mac and consoles being updated at the same time. Starting in U49, PC and console patch notes will be combined together into one set of notes. Until then, please see the full list of notes below. Thank you.

    Writhing Wall
    • Quest: Protecting the Besieged
      • Quest Text localization has been fixed, but we found additional localization issues with Quest Tracker and Player Responses that will be fixed in a future update.
    • Quest: Support the Fellowship
      • Skordo now consistently appears in Solstice to turn in the event quest.
    • Writhing Fortress
      • Walks-in-Ash will no longer go into combat when leading the Infernium to assault the gate.
      • Zysax will now return to combat if the storm callers fail to spawn.
      • Overall fixed various issue that would cause instances to to not close properly when completed.
      • Group Daily Quests in Eastern Solstice will now properly count towards the Achievement.

    Quests
    • Blood on the Water
      • The Caterwaul is no longer invisible if you abandon Blood on the Water after the fight and then pick up the quest from the beginning.
    • Choice and Consequence
      • Dying during the steps from "Lead the Cultist to Cariel" to "Talk to Cultist" now fails you back to the "Find a Suitable Cultist" step.
      • One of the main characters of the objective will no longer have a fashion show through the quest. They will stick to one outfit and weapon, rather than changing outfits and weapons throughout.
      • Fixed an issue where you could leave one of the boss rooms early and block progression until relogging.
    • The Final Dark
      • The Mor Naril Basecamp is now properly populated by the correct NPCs.
      • Fixed an issue where the final boss could vanish during a phase transition in the final battle.
      • The final boss encounter has been adjusted to be slightly less difficult. The following have been updated:
        • Multiple abilities have had damage reduction.
        • Less monsters spawn in the waves.
        • Many AoE Abilities can now be properly dodged.
        • During the final phase, the boss uses less AoE abilities.
    • The Golden Knight
      • You will no longer get into a bad state with a conversation and be able to continue it.
      • Fixed an issue where dying at a specific spot during one of the visions would cause your NPC ally not to respawn.
    • Hunt for the Great Mage
      • The Harverster sites no longer loop back on themselves and quest progression will now continue.

    • Moving while crouched with a staff unsheathed orients the character properly.
    Combat Animation Memory Reduction
    • An equipped bow will no longer jitter against your hip while casting Living Dark.
    • Solar Flare, Malevolent Offering, and Cripple animations should no longer display any strobing or stuttering behaviors.

    • Previewing an inventory item with ‘screen narration on’ no longer produces a UI error.
    Gamepad
    • Fixed an issue where the Skills menu could break if the Skill Advisor was used while having available attribute points.
