I'm not even talking about hip flaps or loincloths because they're their own problem.

Well I guess indirectly I am.

I'm so frustrated with things being spread across 2 or more slots.

I'm not talking about robes or longer, more coat-like chests that are clearly one piece. But if you want legs with disconnected spikes sticking out of the sides, why are they not actually part of the legs instead of floating in midair under the chest piece?

Why do almost all skirt styles have to have legwarmers? If they enhance the feet, put them on the feet. If you can't even see them why are they even there in the first place?

Same for hands and pointless wraps around the forearms.

Crimon Oath Jerkin is one of the worst offenders for this. Not only does it have floating hip flaps and wrapped arms, it has awful shoulder pieces that aren't even properly finished. They're much lower quality than the rest of the chest and just look painted on. This should be a really lovely minimalist chest but instead its a mishmash of leftovers from other stots. That's not even mentioning the ugly, baggy elbow pads and sticky-out crotch flap!

There isn't all that much variety in the type of items you can choose as it is. Feet will almost always be knee-high boots, hands will be elbow length. Misplaced remnants like these reduce our options even further. This is going to be even more problematic when we can hide any part of an outfit

I'm quite sure it's like that on purpose. Just like most styles having a high collar (and if they don't have one for once, there's usually some jewelry covering that spot). I suspect it's to cover seams in the player character model? But then again, if they let us hide everything now anyway, they could also give more variety in design so people can decide for themselves whether visible seams bother them or not.

Not gonna say you're wrong. It wasn't a problem at the start but it's not like it's unknown for them to mess things up! Hopefully they can figure it out for new styles - having the ability to turn off slots and not being able to because of these spare parts is almost worse than not getting it

Scribes of Mora chest is also bad in that it has long sleeves that look like they are made of rough burlap. I would prefer having the arms bare. I wanted to use Sunspire light hands with it but the burlap sleeves show underneath.

It's for exactly this reason, you are correct. The player model is modular. When you're using the outfit system, you're actually replacing sections of your characters body. The illusion that you are "dressing" the naked model is created by mesh morphs that inform the size and shape of the clothing models based on the numerical input of the character sliders. (Exception would be pieces like epaulets which are layering over the model)

Wraps on chest pieces and legs are almost always hiding seams for the cutoffs at the wrist and knee. It prevents gaps due to discrepancies between meshes.
