Currency Chaos

Update 49 introduces Tome points which replace the daily logon, and something else that replaces event tickets. I forget, but they're not the same thing. We also have
* Crowns
* Crown gems
* Seals of endeavour
* The thing infinite archive pays out
* Telvar
* imperial fragments
* alliance points
* Undaunted keys
* Writ vouchers
* Transmutate Crystals (I don't really count this one, they're more like mimic stones to me)

Would seem to me there is room for further consolidation. I get that the currencies are tied to an activity as a way to drive engagement with it. IC also has the merits, Cyro has the proofs. It's all just too much to keep track of.

    They really dropped the ball with the Transmute Crystal increase. It is a “currency” and should be treated as such. Or, as you say, if it is more like mimic stones then it should stack in the bottomless craft bag. Either solution would make more sense and stop frustrating players who store stones as reconstructed gear in their inventory.

    Thank you.

    Tomes are replacing Event Tickets, and the passes with weekly tasks are replacing daily/weekly endeavors and Golden Pursuits—ultimately reducing things to keep track of.

    While they could simplify it (namely, Imperial Fragments), it's really not that many or that confusing to keep track of. But they should certainly be mindful of adding more.

    They should remove Outfit Change Tokens and make outfit changes free.

    Skill Respecification Scrolls are basically a currency (that just happens to sit in your inventory instead of the currency tab), and they are making respecs free with the next update. They should do the same thing for outfits.

    Currencies are a powerful tool and they shouldn't be there for just anything.

    Arena Gladiator Proofs or Siege of Cyrodiil Merits, these also should be converted to one unified currency and should not take inventory space. You can also add Battleground's daily medal too, but i forgot it's name.

    You are right, it is chaos. There are too many currencies. I understand gold. I understand crowns. I understand event tickets (my husband doesn't). And I understand transmute crystals. The ones I don't understand, I don't spend. So I have stockpiles of stuff I have no idea what to do with, and probably never will.

    I am strangely comfortable with the amount of currencies in the game. I say strange because there really is quite a lot of them. I think they all serve a purpose though, and that would change too much if they were consolidated.
    I do, however, wish that the three pvp currencies: Arena Gladiator Proof, Siege of Cyrodiil Merits and the battleground version, should be converted to a currency instead of an item I have to store. That would be more convenient.

    Trade bars are replacing event tickets. Not tome points. But to the point of this thread. My wife is also a very long time ESO player. Except she is a solo casual player. She does not follow the games news, reddit or the forums. When I tried to explain all of this stuff to her she just laughed. The majority of players are like her. They will have no idea about any of this stuff or that there will be no chapter this year. Zero idea about this currency changes or anything like that. Zos should really put up some articles in game or some way of bringing this attention to people in game so they're not shocked in March.

    They put up regular announcements, events, and news on the launcher. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.

    They could give Crowns instead of Crown Gems - they already have an effective exchange rate simply through the pricing.
    Telvar and Imperial Fragments could be one.

    But beyond that you are stuck with the currency/activity connection. The proofs/merits are an annoying grind, but they are supposed to be - if only the rewards reflected the grind.

    (Oh and Transmutes should absolutely be uncapped and live in the Craft Bag)

    Edit: Oh and PvP mobs in Cyro should give AP not XP.

    I read the U49 announcement and I'm still confused about the coming changes. It's all a bit much tbh.

    Just on the PTS after its update now, and there are still more currencies that can fit on a screen. So I guess I'll never learn the new things.

    Moo!

    And totally agree, even if not free the cost is 3k gold which is basically nothing. Does anyone actually buy these with crowns?

    Event tickets are changing to trade bars so Tome points will be an extra currency alongside those.

    Daily/weekly endeavours are going but the seals are staying, so that doesnt reduce the load either.

    I believe Golden pursuits will still be a thing too so ultimately there won't be any less to keep track of - but at least there won't be the time pressure of daily tasks any more
