Returning Player with a few questions

I stopped playing back in 2020, and I currently have a level 50 Warden with a little over 190CP. It's been so lon,g I plan to relearn the game with a new character and only go back to that existing character once I have things figured out, but I have a few questions I would love some clarification on.

Between the 2025 Premium Edition in the store for $80 or the ESO Premium Subscription, which is best? I saw a video recently where it looks like they will be adding more and more of the expansions/DLC to the base game over time, so would the Premium Sub be best?

I am looking for a new class to main, and I want it to do well in PvP. Right Now I am leaning toward some flavor of either Nightblade (Stealth ftw) or Dragonknight. Are either of these good for a returning player who wants to focus on PvP? Are there other potentially better options? I hear the Nightblade is harder to learn, but how hard is it? I mained a Rogue in WoW for years. Is it harder than that?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I can't seem to edit my original post, so I will post this here instead.

I do know there is subclassing now, so I can likely have a Dragonknight (or any other base class) that stealths thanks to this feature, but I have to get each subclass's "Class" to 50 as well, correct? So that's why I am trying to choose a base class that is good on its own first, as it will be a while before I can subclass into other classes (except the Warden, which I already have at 50).

If I am misunderstanding the subclassing feature, please let me know.

We can edit our original post by clicking the gear on the subject line. It's not very obvious and I wish they would find a more intuitive way.

(When you start a thread, the edit button is up at the top next to the title, not next to the #number for replies.)

I don't have an opinion on which version to buy, but it'll take years for all of the DLCs/Chapters to enter the base game. And I don't think we know yet how Seasons will interact with DLC dungeons. Will those enter the base game too, eventually? New dungeons will be base game, but I don't think we've heard about existing DLC dungeons which are currently part of ESO+ or bought in packs.

My Non-ESO account has bought Summerset and Greymoor, for Jewelry and Antiquities, but not the rest. And no dungeon packs. If I were in your position, and didn't want ESO+ for it's other benefits (crafting bag and DLC dungeons being the two biggest reasons to get it for me), I'd just buy Summerset, since Greymoor is entering base game soon.
Decide about ESO+ in the future when you have a good feel for if you'll spend enough time in the game to make it worth the price.

ESO+ will get you every DLC except the newest one (but it will soon). It will also give you crowns, craft bag, increased bank space, increased experience gain, and more. The downside is that once you stop paying, you lose the ability to go into content you don’t own.

The premium edition will give you all the overland DLCs but not the dungeons (except for last year’s 4). This does not require a subscription.

Personally, I would recommend the ESO+ method since you’re trying to get back into the game and if you’re full sending into PvP, you won’t need constant access to all the DLCs. Only long enough to get the gear you want.

I’m a very casual PvPer so I can’t suggest classes. Warden is very strong though. Nightblade is the stealth class if you want to stealth. Gankers still exist.

You can start leveling subclass lines before even leveling your character yet. The level requirement on classes is if you want to have the ability to freely swap between them all, as you’re locked into learning 3 subclass lines at a time to max level (you can freely swap between those 3 lines and your base class) if they’re not leveled as a pure class. Subclassed skill lines only need to be leveled one time for your account. Morphs are still per character. Subclassed lines do require 2 skill points instead of 1, though.

Also, base class affects scribing (spell making). There’s an optional ingredient that changes effects based on your base class. Warden’s is very strong, it’s a charm (stun that also moves people towards you) that’s unblockable and unbreakable.

That said, you also cannot take 2 lines from one class that’s not your base class. You also can’t swap out your base class. So, for examples, if you want 2 nightblade lines then go nightblade. If you want the class set from infinite archive for DK then go DK. If you want charm on scribed abilities, go warden.

Thank you all for the answers!

Yeah the edit functionality is not obvious, thank yall for that tip!

It sounds like ESO+ might be a good starting point until I am sure I want to invest more. Thank yall again.

I didnt know you could level subclasses without having the base class at 50. 2 skill points per sounds steep tho..

Ok last question, between Nightblade and Dragonknight, which class probably has the best two skill lines per Soarora's last bit of info?

Im thinking of leveling both DK and NB through the tutorial tomight to see if I like one over the other...

I would always say play character/class you like!

Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean you'll enjoy it!

Over the years I have made and deleted several NB's and DK's, I just don't get on with them.

All my character's can PVP but the class of my PVP main is Warden and has been for years.

There are other ways of gaining stealth if that's what you want, don't end up putting hours into something that just doesn't ever feel quite right! <3
