I don't understand why so many players are complaining about the Battle Pass. Tier 0 is completely free and offers far more value than the previous login rewards (e.g., 8,000 Seals of Endeavor) and other stuff we don't even know about yet.

Tiers 1 and 2 offer (of course) even more rewards, but these are completely optional, from everything I've seen. Everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to spend the money, for example, on the new mount.

Pay-to-win expansions like new Mythics or the Scribing (at the time of release) are eliminated, and you're not forced to always buy the latest expansion for them (we'll see what the future holds).

The only thing that really bothered me were the vague hints regarding PvP. In my opinion, there's still a lot of potential here to make PvP more attractive (e.g., levelable PvP sets with progressive skins or new prestige ranks). Let's see what else comes along.

Obviously we don't know what the reward tiers look like yet. But from other games I have played with Battle Pass systems. The free tier is usually garbage. They Want you to buy the premium tiers, it's where they make money. Look at the login rewards for example, that is free tier. My two cents.

Of course, the first round of the Season Pass is nice even on the free tier. But that will very likely change quickly... as always. I still remember the introduction of the Endeavours; you got a lot more at the beginning then, too.

Basically its just three different tiers of the existing Endeavors / Golden Pursuits as task schedule. How much of the game will be new areas and quests?

With all the current DLC's becoming base game over time, players that don't have those DLC's will have lots more to do than those who have done them already.

Do you all think these tasking iare going to be enough to keep long term players interested?

What ever happened to 'The Elder Scrolls' story line anyway? In the stand-alone games, this is the core story. Currently, there is nothing regarding that. Just in PVP moving scrolls. The Elder Scroll lore is lost. I would really like the game to get back to its core lore in some way. Right now, the game is just an acronym. Hoping this is a direction at some point.

I mean... if we want to be technical, the first time an Elder Scroll is even seen in the mainline games is in TES4, and that's only in one guild quest. Only in TES5 did we actually see a scroll in the Main Quest and see its importance. The previous games were pretty much like "this is a mystical-enough sounding framing device" and basically never mentioned them at all.

ESO's Scrolls lore is honestly par for the course.

If I'm remembering correctly, the elder scrolls are occasionally consulted in Arena by story NPCs to find the location of a fragment of the Staff of Chaos.
Long before moth priests were a thing.

But yes, I'm a big advocate for returning to elder scrolls roots and lore in ESO. It's kind of disappointing how many DLCs we've had in the province of Morrowind and it never feels like it comes close to touching on the magic setting that game had.
I think Elsewyr felt the "freshest" lore exposure for me personally, despite it being about dragons again. Like I was actually learning about a culture and an aspect of the world as I played, as many other elder scrolls titles do.

I'm pretty sure when most people talk about 'Elder Scrolls lore' they don't mean just stories specifically related to the in-world objects called the Elder Scrolls. They mean the series name, encompassing all the lore about Nirn and Oblivion.

(But also the in-world Elder Scrolls have been a driving force behind the events of all the games, even when the player character doesn't get to see them. Of course it's possible the characters who claim they know the events in a game's story are about to happen because of the Elder Scrolls are lying, but it would be odd to cover up the use of one future-predicting tool by pretending to use another one.)

I am cautiosly optimistic for these upcoming updates. Naming the first season 'zero' ist not the best idea but okay.
I am especially looking forward to the new overland difficulty. I hope this includes main story boss fights and storyinstances, too. If not, please make it so.
The new monetization with a battle pass is not something I would have have wanted but I will wait and see.
The new reward structure with more rewards earnable ingame within the tomes and the gold coast bazaar sound promising.
The new PvP Progression System could bring me back to PvP, so that is a good idea in my book.
All in all, season zero (one) looks like a decent foundation to build the future of ESO upon. We will have to see how it actually plays out though.
Season one (two) has some very interesting things.
New dynamic events? Hell yes! If they are something like those in GW2, sign me up. I think ESO needs this. Dolmens and the like are way too static. This could really be great.
The high seas of tamriel sounds could be another new feature that could really grab my attention. Naval battles upon the high seas? Maybe with ships we build ourselves? Maybe a PvP portion? Imagine the alliance war on the ocean. This has enormous potential!
Solodungeons on the other hand? Not something that is needed, in my opinion. You can solo most dungeons right now, even on veteran. So I don't see why resources should be spent on this.
All the class reworks are also coming, which will be something to look forward to.
I know there are some pain points, like no new zone to explore or no new dungeons and I understand that some people are disappointed about that. There was this hint with winterhold by susan kath, so I believe that a new zone will be oming in 2027. If 2026 is the year to lay a groundwork for the future, I am okay with not getting everything we were used to, if the new features are making sense. So let's see what this year will be like.

Could someone clarify the access to zones? I've heard that all players will soon have access to all zones for free as a part of the base game. But this graphic has Orsinium, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Imperial City added to Base Game in Season o and Greymoor added in Season 2. Is the accessibility to all zones going to be phased in over time or all at once - or am I misunderstanding what the graphic is saying (maybe access to zone stories and not just the zone or ???).

One of my concerns is that if all players have access to all zones, then so do bots and if I start seeing bots farming in dlc zones, I'll just quit the game - they are that irritating to me. ZOS should have more concern about bots ruining the game economy than they obviously do.

it says the dlc names so it is the zone, story, and anything else included like Antiquities for Greymoor.

Vvardenfell became free a while ago, bots still mainly go to starter islands.

The more I sat on this update, the more my optimism waned, and i'll see if I can constructively communicate why with hope that ZOS fixes or addresses this in the weeks before the Season's debut.

To loosely quote the devs from the livestream: "It's important that we don't have any FOMO with the battle pass." And to combat this, they have said that if you purchase it, you can, at any time, complete it. At first this sounded good.

Then I thought of a loophole in the logic that counters their point entirely: What happens if you miss the battle pass? Are you then missing out on those cosmetics entirely?

Here's the thing: I haven't played the game regularly in a while. I"ll pop in, sure, because i've been genuinely curious about what the team is doing (even more so now with the incoming reworks and overland difficulty). Even with me touching and going while waiting for the features i've really been looking forward to, though, i've never felt like i'm going to miss out on a reward somewhere. If I don't run that dungeon, or I don't do that zone, it will be there for me when I come to the game. I can always go into hardcore collector mode when I return. Those cosmetics that are buried in West Wield? Or in Falkreath? Will always be there to earn when I decide to invest in the game.

Now, though? If I miss a Battle pass? One of the stated *key methods* of providing rewards for the game moving forward? It *won't* be waiting for me if I decide to focus on another new game's release for a time. It *won't* be waiting for me if I have something else going on during a season. It *won't* be waiting for me if i'm busy and just don't have time.

... That is, unless I pay for it.

That is a *really* uncomfortable position to be in, and is the pure definition of FOMO. Even if ZOS isn't taking my time, they sure as heck are keeping my attention, and are taking my wallet for things that could disappear if I choose not to spend on them. Cash shop items rotate in and out. Content drops are always available to you. A large number of limited time cosmetics released on the regular, however, creates a feeling of pressure that is counter to the spirit that the Devs communicated in their stream.

This is not to say that the devs can't fix this in a number of ways. They could make it so that older season rewards are guaranteed to rotate into the Gold Coast Bazaar after a year, for example. Doing nothing, though, is teetering on being a dealbreaker for me, and that sucks, because I think that everything else they're doing is really promising.

Perhaps it was explained and I just missed it, for the mount upgrades, is it just the ability to upgrade 3 skills at once at $250 per skill ($750) or is the price $250 for all three?

Also, how much total for 12 months paid up front for an ESO+ Subscription and the Tome/Seasons?

Solo dungeons and 'story mode' dungeons... AWESOME!! And... it's about time!! ;)

Also excited for a few more changes, hopefully the rework of class doesn't make things WORSE- because ZOS has a bad track record with their 'fixing what isn't broken' so it's hard to trust them to fix what IS broken. Example: what they did to Templar and its animations- perhaps they can 'fix' what they broke when they revamp Templar.

With new leadership, perhaps the devs will actually LISTEN to player feedback and not just their own egos. As in, "I'm a dev, so I KNOW what's best for you" type of attitude that I too often find when working with engineers IRL.

A lot of the QoL additions are also exciting. I didn't have time to finish the entire video, but from what I saw and have been reading through here, seems like it could be a good thing.

I think players also need to realize that the devs cannot do EVERYTHING at once. So sure, no new major story content through 2026, BUT, once all these changes are implemented- then they will obviously have more time to devote to story content. Considering the decimation of the development team, there is still a lot on their plate- which means, as players, we must have patience and allow them the time they need to finish these projects.

I don't know where you got that dollar amount from, or why you see money at all. My understanding is that when you use in-game gold to level your mount, you will get a bump of 3 a day rather than 1 in the option you choose. So, it will take 10 days eace to level up each attribute (30 days total) instead of 30 days each (total of 90 days).

Any new content going forward is free. Existing DLC will be added over time (Year 1 zones in Season Zero, Greymoor (Western Skyrim/Blackreach) in Two, etc.)

Interesting to me is that chronologically we got Summerset/Artaeum before Greymoor, but Greymoor is being added to the base game before Summerset. There must be a reason why. (Speculation: there will be another quest line like the revealed Thieves Guild and Sheogorath content coming for Greymoor in Two. So, they have to add Greymoor then so new players can access the new content. (Further speculation: A new quest line in Western Skyrim would be a great way to set up a new Winterhold zone in Season Three...))

I understood it to mean we have an option of upgrading three times a day per character. So 250 gold per for a total of 750 gold per day.

Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic about some of the changes. I'm waiting to see how the battlepass actually looks in practice, but as a disabled person with limited income, adding something else to pay for 3 times a year besides ESO+ does make me nervous. There's a claim about reducing FOMO but adding neat stuff behind a limited time paywall is literally what causes FOMO.

I think certain things also need to be uncapped for QoL changes instead of slightly tweaked. No transmute caps, no timers on antiquities at all. Or uncap it for ESO+, give another actual reason to buy it.

According to statistics such as log, it is obvious that both class masteries and class sets need to be readjusted to align with the standards of the subclass era, otherwise they will still be difficult to use, at least in the PVE end game.
I think other players want to know if class masteries and class sets will also have a chance to be updated later?

We’ve already been asking for this, as the current situation already means that Templar “class” mastery is more like “cla” mastery unless you keep Restoring Light.

My favorite lore drop zone is Markarth; the Dark Heart storyline gave me a "cosmic forces" vibe that Summerset did as well with the Triad.

Namira is an under explored daedric prince; I run a reach witch Namira RP guild and try to define her lore as I can - both good and bad, since her morality is so off kilter compared to normal.

I know it is just a rehash of the Morrowind storyline - the villain repurposing the (a) heart of the world to his own nefarious ends and being sympathetic while doing so. But TES3's storyline is a damn good one to rehash, and I think it treats Namira and the Dark Heart with the same otherworldly and cosmically significant weight as Azura and the Heart in TES3 - though of course in different ways, given they are different "people" (princes).

As for feedback directly about the stream: I consider myself cautiously optimistic.

Cautious because any time something changes, it can change for the worse -

But optimistic because any time something changes, it can change for the better.

And I am willing to trust the team still.

There are two things I feel ZOS should change about what was announced:
1: Keep seasons available to buy even after a season ends. This way older seasons will keep generating money and stay available for new and returning players, while at the same time completely removing all the FOMO for players.
2: Create some kind of ESO++ subscription that automatically has the highest battle pass in it. Maybe for €22.50 per month, or €20 when subbing to ESO++ for an entire year at once. Both for easier understanding for players and for easier management for players, making it harder to miss out on battle passes as well. Pricewise it would be the same as buying ESO+ and battle pass separately.

For myself though, I think I am done. As someone who never plays games with a battle pass, due to the uncertainty that brings for players and the game's longevity. I am going to stick to this rule.

    Goodluck!

It's pretty simple for me: I just want chapters back. I liked the model. Simply with improved writing and bug-fixing, and I'd have been perfectly happy.

Here's the thing for me: I liked last year despite a few blunders and mishaps. I'm a quester, explorer and roleplayer. I want well-written quests and zones to get lost in. That Bethesda feeling of taking a detour and suddenly the Sunday is over.
Sure, Solstice was a smaller zone, but it was pretty, and the writing quality was much improved again, especially in the big sidequests like Corelanya Manor and the Meridia temple. Those were great! And the new agency and different conversation outcomes, like how to deal with prisoners and possible informants.
Just now, I'm replaying some of the more recent weaker chapters and noting the problems of feeling railroaded, that sense of "This isn't my character, I'm not saying/doing that, I'm cutting that out of my personal story". Solstice was infinitely better with that. The new narrative direction and the new agency gave me lots of hope and at times reminded me of the basegame, where e.g. the intimidation perk was used and meant something.
One can always improve and fix more, and some corners of the world were clearly written with more care for the classic lore than others, but I really thought we were on the right track and was looking forward to the next developments.

So for this announcement with the low-content low-story zone-less year and mostly battlepass-typical busywork to come now of all times is dismal. If it had been after, say, High Isle, it'd have been easier to just say, okay, guess it's over. But we were getting something good, we were getting agency, and now I don't know what's going to come of it all.

I'd have happily paid a regular price for a year of regular content, regardless of the new naming scheme. This whole development seems like throwing the baby out with the bathwater to me when all that was needed was a renewed focus on writing quality and holding course.

For in world Chronology, the Elder Scrolls Online occurs about 800 years before the events in Arena and Daggerfall, about 850 years before the events in Morrowind and Oblivion, and about 1,100 years before the events in Skyrim. For the story of the main game to continue that has to wait for Elder Scrolls 6. That's why so many fans of the series are so excited to see ES6 come out.

ESO difficulty - They, the devs, say they're going to have the overland PvE difficulty have more than one setting, while not separating players... All well and good, but I don't see how they can have different difficulty settings occupy the same place and the same time without separating players. How can a CP level player on hard difficulty, fight the same enemy as a sub-level 50 player on easy setting at the same time? The only way I see different difficulty settings working is by separate instances - like the old Vet servers. Or even solo instancing like the main story, guild stories or dungeons.

Maybe I missed it but did they mention account wide outfit slots or armory slots? I thought they mentioned one of those.

They can do this by debuffing the player to make them weaker rather than making the enemies more difficult. The enemies can stay the same. It's the player that will need to be changed.

They can do this in two ways:

    1. Give you a buff / debuff that decreases your own potential, e.g. meaning you deal less damage / healing and receive more damage / less healing.

    2. Give you a buff / debuff that increases the potential of enemies, e.g. they deal more damage (to you).

I'd say 2. is the likely option here as making players weaker seems worse than making enemies stronger.

I am extremely happy with this year of maintenance, there's enough content in the game. Allowing me to experience it on my own terms (veteran overland) is awesome and I think class identity deserves a lot of attention.

My final pain point with this game is the crafting bag. It feels soooooooooooooo scummy and I hate it. It's selling a solution to an arbitrary problem that ZOS created and it fundamentally changes the moment to moment gameplay. Let me buy it outright, I don't care if it costs me $200 in crowns. At the very least include it in the battlepass. I'll happily buy your battlepasses if it gives me access to the crafting bag for the duration of the season.

I probably wouldn't hate it so much if they cut down on the sheer amount of materials or exponentially increased stack sizes. It's really a compounding issue and it's just gross and leads to unnecessary frustration. I shouldn't have to do this as someone that has spent as much money on this game as I have.

A little feedback from a player since 2014:

Please add some minor detailed immersive stuff, in example:

    - immersive first person horse riding camera, there is an addon about it, but everytime TESO gets an update it breaks first person animation when weapons are drown (makes hands and weapon tilt), I so immersive to ride in your mount in first person view...

    - Fix first person bow animation, isn't fair that at early stages of the game looked so cool and well made, now after many updates at some point the animation in first person to shot with bow always has a weird lean after shot, it seems that got permanently that way due it was removed the draw animation and never was fixed..

    - Add immersion, forget new casual console players, they tend to destroy game franchises in long term, they dont really care about TES

    - Please focus on immersion, details and lore

*A bit of feedback on the new announcements:
    - About TESO Plus new announced features..Why do you think it is fun to have faster level up and easy gold... that's the opposite of fun, it devalues the worth of the gameplay and even worst if you have to pay for it... please do not make the same mistakes many MMORPG does, apparently many MMORPG has a decrease curve in development at some point until then all is messed up and the game has no sense at all... look at bad World of Warcraft has became is an example of how to destroy a game franchise, never be like them please! It seems TESO is at the peak of the curve, so go up, not down on the curve... please
