War Maiden is most likely outdated, but if you don't do trials it might work okay. The goal is to get to 125% crit, which is one reason to wear medium armor. Another is that medium armor gives you weapon/spell damage. Unless you need penetration or magicka cost reduction, you should aim for medium armor instead of light.
I did a bit of searching and some say warmaidens is a goid set but otgers argue that deadly strike is better. Also they suggest tide-born wildwalker but i thought orders wrath might be better for my magicka templar. I dont see what she will get out of medium armor ...if you know pls explain what 2 sets are best and why.
Also i want to subclass this build not sure what subclass yet. I want lightning staff on front bar and ice staff on back bar.

Warmaidens is good for Templars thanks to all the magic damage they do, but if you are venturing into subclassing make sure the skills chosen are magic damage to get the best from the set. otherwise Deadly would probably outperform if you are using Puncturing Sweep and Beam.
Tide Born Wildstalker I would say tips out Orders Wrath but not by much - these two crafted sets are pretty awesome on most characters these days thanks to the crit focus - and being crafted means we get to work with armour weights. Thats also why we go medium armour these days, for the crit boost from Dexterity primarily and Wpn/Spl damage from Agility passives. There are now better ways to get the penetration that was previously one of the main benefits from light armour passives.
