A battle pass to me just seems contrary to play the way you want

Maybe thats just me because i greatly dislike battle passes in any game tbh...it always feels you "need" to do things according to someone elses time schedule and agenda which to me feels contrary to play the way you like...but maybe thats just me...

To me battle passes always feel like "work" not like fun...

The pricing also seems very steep for an ESO + member compared to the chapter model - even with 1 premium pass included - the base cost for eso + and 3 premium passes are now (For me here in Europe, prcies vary depending on region) - cheapest annual model - 220 Euro a year and thats without any additional store, crates etc. purchases - thats just getting all the content.... seems very pricey to me looking at the competition and their models... but again, maybe thats just me...

What, you don't like a $30 chore list that clogs your favorite content with people who don't want to be there and will want to be carried? :P

Really not excited about the battlepass. I collect everything, on 2 accounts (many more accounts, but only two that I complete everything on). This just isn't justifiable anymore with the costs.

I like Battle Pass in other games. feels fine in Marvel Rivals, Diablo 4, League of legends and even WoWs free battle pass "traveler's log" the problem for a battle pass to me is when it becomes like Fortnite where you get to checkpoints and do very specific things to progress it vs on the other games I listed you just play how you want and that gets you the rewards (kind of like a rewards XP bar)

I wasnt able to catch the stream and didn't see anything in the article. Is this battle pass going to be in addition to ESO plus?

I could rationalize a once a year purchase on top of ESO plus when it brought so much content and access. But Im not looking to pay extra every 3 months unless the full year is equal to or less what it would cost for a Chapter.

I'm fine with the Free and Premium Tamriel Tomes; I just hate that the unique bonus collectible is gated behind the Premium+ version, meaning that if you want those collectibles, you gotta shell out another $15 every 3 months.

With ESO+, you'd be spending $90 for Premium+ per year, compared to just $50 per year for previous Chapters' Collector's/Deluxe Editions.

If it was just $5 extra instead of $15 extra, I'd be very happy. Besides, the 4,000 extra Tome Points from Premium+ has no real value since you have forever to unlock that pass.

They use shareholder maths instead of game dev maths. This battle pass feels like it comes from higher ups who have no idea what video games even are -- only that they make money. And have no idea what happens to, for example, Destiny 2. They just see "battle pass is more money? Implement it! Now!" But when no one is buying and instead leave the game, the higher price doesn't matter.

It's every 3 months but it's also mostly cosmetics as new content will be largely free. Also the base tier is going to be free. So you can pick and choose which ones you'd like.

Given they're making so much content free now, I can live with the battle pass system.

Yes, the battle pass is going to be in addition to ESO+.

There are two tiers of Battlepass. Premium and Premium+

If you sub to ESO+ for 12 months you get credit for one free season of Premium+, that you can spend on any Season.

It should be noted that this 12 months starts when Season 0 starts. So you wont be credited for all the months you have been subbed to ESO+ before then.

If I'm understanding correctly, you only have to buy the premium tomes if you're interested in the premium collectibles. Everything else is FREE. That's better than before. You get any new content (zones, story, dungeons, etc.) for FREE.

    If I'm understanding correctly.

I know there are completionists, but has anyone bought every item in the crown store? Every single one?

I really don't think there's anything to complain about here.

Tbh the battle pass currency just sounds annoying. Why not make eso+ the regular battle pass, and release the extra cosmetics and motifs as crown store/seal items? Why have crowns+trade bars(replacing event tickets)+endeavors+golden pursuits?

I really like how it's looking to be implemented. Very similar to a couple of other games I play online, and I'll happily see it replicated and implemented in to ESO.

What I really really do not like though is the price point. This price bump is even bigger than the price bump we received with the 2025 content pass.

How is it anti play how you want when you’re given an array of tasks you can complete AND they’re letting us reroll tasks we don’t want to do?

For anyone who didn’t watch the stream: the battle pass is replacing endeavors and will be essentially weekly and 3-monthly endeavors instead of daily and weekly. There’s three tiers: free, premium, premium+.

How these end up looking in terms of reward spread remains to be seen. It doesn’t look bad so far but we could always have the situation where the first seasons are good and later on more and more things become premium only.

It will be interesting to see if the new content will be worth it. I would prefer to pay for an expansion with a lot of content that I will get much playtime out of, than free tiny updates that are nowhere near comparative in scope and design. And ESO has a history of introducing a feature and making it progressively player-unfriendly, so I think this will be the case after the first few seasons, and that truly good, immersive, expansive questing and challenging 4-person play is a thing of the past. It doesn't matter if it's for free if there's not a lot of content, and we have to spend an entire quarter with rehashed event activities. That's not to take away from all the amazing QoL announcements they made, but the most important thing is playable content, and it seems to be shrinking.

what is the issue ? Battlepass is just exclusive " crown store items" put in a season pass. no1 need to buy mounts and pets and cosmetic

The problem is, up until now, if you did the same content (aka chores) as other players you would received the same rewards as them. And if you logged in the same number of days as another player you would receive the same daily rewards as them. Now, some of those rewards are being withheld from you and only given to the players willing to pay for the battlepass. So now, even though you have completed the same content, logged in the same number of days, you'll receive less.

Battle-passes in most other live-service games contain cosmetics that are exclusive to that pass, and are unobtainable in any way after the pass ends. That time-limited exclusivity is what bums a lot of people out about battle-passes, since it is a textbook example of exploiting fear-of-missing-out to 1. monetize and 2. maintain player numbers.

Tamriel Tomes most likely includes such time-exclusive cosmetics.

So's me playing the game. They basically announced zero additional content except a time-limited zone made from old assets and a whole lot about an expensive battlepass system that has not one but two paid tiers.

Cosmetics are a massive part of the endgame, everyone runs around wearing outfits. Hell, I'd even say getting the right motif and style pages for your character is considered a higher priority than getting best-in-slot gear by most players.
We've already seen them shove the nicer weapons into the crown store, can't say I was a particular fan but hey, I got crowns to spend from eso+. This them adding in another way to monetise the game with another FOMO mechanic.

i am finding the battle pass in where winds meet to work quite well, all the goodies are at the start and as you progress you earn more token to advance the next battle pass.

its also a free to play game. But there battle pass seems to work out well for the punter

So with the new ESO announcement i cant see it being good value for money, if you are a current eso+ subscriber, felt last years season of the worm was also not good value, but this years announcement seems again to work out more expensive again for eso+ subscribers. It gets expensive with all the other games we play having to purchase battle pass after battle pass, But least other games ones seem decent value for money. Diablo + ESO are imo not good value for money, strange how both under the Microsoft umbrella, just cash grab after cash grab.

No mention of anything worth while upcoming for ESO this year, no big story, no new companions, no new fun systems , no fantastic cinematics to get you drawn in like normal, just a bland announcement telling us we are offering to make you pay monthly for battle pass and rob you of every penny you have. (if you want the goodies)

With all the respect i find it rather weird people saying "oh it's just cosmetics" It's a litteraly a ROLE PLAYING GAME, and guess what helps with immersion? COSMETICS. This isn't a fps shooter where i don't see anything ingame. I see my characters model all day.

And i agree with all you said. I couldn't care less about best in slot gear especially now that finding people to play with is harder than ever!

Yeah my understanding of it is, basically:

    Year 1 & ESO+ - $90 for all 3 seasons at premium+
    Year 2 & ESO+ - $90 for all 4 seasons at premium+

For the non-plus, it seems to be priced at the old Chapter cost:

    Year 1 & ESO+ - $45 for all 3 seasons at premium
    Year 2 & ESO+ - $45 for 3 seasons at premium and 1 season at premium+

No. Gameplay Content will be largely free. It's permanence will depend on the individual content. Night Market is an event but it does not mean there will never be a new zone, and indeed, they noted zones as still a possibility on stream.

So, if they released a zone like say Winter Hold, it would presumably be free.
