Help with Two Sets?

Hello,

I was trying to 5 piece sets on a character and a monster set

Helm - Monster
Pauldrons - Monster
(Monster set Complete)

Curiass - set 1
Girdle - set1
Sabaton - set1
Greaves - set1
Gautlets - set1
(one 5pc and bonus equipped)

Ring - set2
Ring - set2
Amulet - set2
Staff - set2, set2 (counts as two pieces, right?)
(2nd 5pc active)

But I still have two slots which I was going to attach a mace and shield - but that counts as 1, right?
I tried trainee, but did not get any bonus.*
I tried Druid's Braid - mace and shield - no bonus.*
*only counts as a 1 pc so won't work

So, anything I can slot that will give me a bonus?

Thoughts? Or am I not making sense?

Mace is one piece and shield is one piece. Ideally you should use the same set as your rings and amulet so you get the same 5-piece bonus as when you have the staff equipped.

So you would have:
Bar 1 - ring, ring, amulet, staff (counts as 2 pieces)
Bar 2 - ring, ring, amulet, mace, shield

I tried set 1 for a mace and shield and swapped out my sabatons for trainee - but stll nothing

yes. but I see what I am missing here. I think I am confusing 5pc sets and bar swapping...

If the mace and shield are from a different set to the staff, when you are on the bar with the mace and shield you won't get the 5 piece set bonus, you'll get the 3 piece set bonus (from the jewellery) and a 2 piece bonus (if it has one) from the mace and shield.

For clarity: Only your active bar counts towards the number of set pieces and therefore set bonus and stats.

If you want a constant 5/5/2 bonus you need to do this:

Head: Monster Set
Shoulders: Monster Set

Chest: Set 1
Pants: Set 1
Boots: Set 1
Belt: Set 1
Gloves: Set 1

Necklace: Set 2
Ring 1: Set 2
RIng 2: Set 2

Front Bar: Two pieces of Set 2 or one piece if it is a staff or two-hander
Back Bar: Two pieces of Set 2 or one piece if it is a staff or two-hander

The edit gear icon for the first post in a thread is up in the title bar. It's an easy thing to miss - the forum UI could be a bit clearer.

ETA that in addition to Gabriel_H's excellent post, you might notice slight differences in stats when bar swapping due to different enchants and traits on S&S versus staff.

Just for clarity and because no one mentioned it so far - there are 2 piece sets (as in shield + weapon or 2 one handed weapons or 1 two handed weapon). These are available from the arenas and from Sanity's Edge trial. I'd suggest you check these in the Collections pannel. Even if you haven't collected them you can still examine the sets there.
