It's actually good that the rewards in december and january aren't top notch, or rewards we can't miss out on. This is the time players do other things than ESO, go on vacations, visit family, etc. There would be a major backlash if many players were to miss out on special rewards.

It is as if the same misguided idiot who determined the reward structure for the Writhing Wall "Once-In-A-Lifetime" event was behind this month's ridiculous offerings.

Why does this person still have a job is the question on khajiit's mind. News Flash, stingy person - none of these rewards come out of your pocket or your pay.

And before snarky forum troll comes out of the stinky troll woodwork to express their erudite assessment with "cOmPl4in1ng 4b0uT fr33 5tuffS!!!!", allow khajiit to say we are entitled to complain - these are enticements to log in when other elements of the game are insufficient. They are not very enticing, and the folks who actually care whether we log in or not (There are some of those left in the home office, yes?) might want to know about that.

It has certainly been a precipitous fall from the first full-month worth of reward that were offered, yes? (And yes, that's the Murkmire DLC on day 24.)

Look at the bright side, these days if you happen to go on holiday for a few week you do not have to fear missing out on anything

The whole worth of the entire month daily rewards combined is just some pocket change gold.

My my. They are asking their player base to NOT log in as much in January.

No FOMO. No problem.

Time to look into games I picked up during the December sale!

(Incidentally, I know at least 2 other MMOs who do ask their player base to take a break and come back refreshed for Events - one has to do with Paths… and another to do with Fantasy)

It's not just the tri-pots . A number of the items seem to have seen a noticable reduction in quantity. Enough so that it has to be intentional. The reason for it? <shrug>

[edit] Upon reflection.. the Attribute and Skill respec scrolls are 5x their normal rate. Almost as if they think we'll have a use for them sometime soon.

I mean yes it's free stuff, yes I haven't really cared about the login rewards in a while, but I do think it's worrying when they start getting so bad that they actually serve as a daily reminder, shoved in our faces, of how the the game has fallen from its glory, rather than having their intended effect.

The Attribute and Skill respec scrolls did see a 5X increase from normal. Almost as if ZOS predicts we'll need them sometime soon...

This is just...mystifying.

We all just got done reading end of year communication that said they understood and agreed that rewards need improvement this year.

And then, the first rewards of the year are the most low-key bland stuff I've ever seen from this feature.

This was a simple, easy, no-brainer opportunity to spice things up, even just a little bit, at no hard cost or significant time/resource investment.

It could have been as simple as "Our favorite Crown Crates from 2025" with a different (not currently on sale) 1x Crate on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. Maybe go crazy and do 2 on the 28th. Or a different luxury furnishing from 2025 at the end of each week. It doesn't have to be a house or a DLC.

Yes, I know these are "free" rewards. And I know I can delete them (and I do). But it also feels like the first whiffed opportunity of 2026 when we're all crossing our fingers for 1/7.

The whole point of login rewards is to encourage logins. Encourage the chase of later-in-the-month shinies. This does not accomplish that. At all.

If that's the bar, we can point at nearly every month in the calendar and find a reason to dial back rewards, though I'd never have thought to add January to that list...

It's easier / spring break...
It's Memorial day...
The kids are out of school...
It's summer vacation...
It's Labor Day...
It's back-to-school season...
It's Halloween...
It's Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanunkah/New Years..
It's National Bratwurst Day...
It's (all the holidays in other countries my uncultured ass doesn't know)...

bump... yes, free, but it's supposed to be incentive. if so many ppl are worried about ppl who -might- miss out on things because of vacation, etc, they can do like they did in previous years and put THE BIG GIFT on the first day like they did with sword singer's retreat. although if someone can't even manage to log in for one day because of whatever real life things are going on, how on earth would they manage to get the event tickets for the event prizes? maybe we should just not have any events at all because someone, somewhere -might- miss out on something somehow... <end sarcasm>

and coming up with decent ENTICING rewards does not have to take any extra time. years ago, we used to get crates most month. REAL crates. not just the ones that were guaranteed to give you one pet and 3 cards of junk. and it was usually 3 days of them either in the middle of the month all together or once a week. no one has to come up with some new pet or mount or costume or emote or anything and put it into the game. just put a crate in. and i guess the ppl who are totally against crates can just leave them unopened (although most of the ppl i know who are against them are against BUYING them, not opening free ones >.>)
