One tip, do not open/complete leads for mythics or items you are not farming. There are so many in IA that you need to do this to eliminate them from the pool.

Pretty sure the lead drops are not curated at all, so it wouldn't matter whether you kept them or not. If you roll a duplicate of a lead you already have, it simply replaces it (so the timer gets reset).

If you get a lead for Fortunes in IA and don't open it, you have eliminated the chance of another Fortunes lead dropping as they do not drop multiple identical leads. The more of those types of leads you can eliminate in the zone you are farming, the better chance you have of getting the lead you are looking for. Obviously leads from outside the zone you are in do not matter

I hear what you're saying, but I don't believe the code actively looks at what you already have. The reason you don't see identical drops is because one simply replaces the other. I don't believe it alters the loot table in any way, neither does it re-roll to get something different. ZOS could have written the code that way, but it's more complicated to do so. Given the drop chances, you'd need literally thousands of data points to confirm/deny, but this does seem a lot more like a case of cognitive bias.
