Would love this, have to second @MorallyBipolar though as it will never happen.

If you saw 9 people in a campaign instead of 1-bar, you probably wouldn’t jump in and be the 10th.

I honestly think that what they should do is encourage underdog alliances to come in.

Nobody wants to see a 1/1/3, because then there's no chance if you're on the no-pop ones and there's nothing to do except PvD and pick off people trying to get a foothold if you're winning. I honestly feel like that's what ended up killing RW/BR because those tended to become 2- or 1-alliance Campaigns, pushing those alliances that can never get a chance out.

Currently, there's no incentive to come in if your alliance has nobody, or if your alliance is losing in score. Sure, they have the low pop/low score bonuses, but those are inconsistent at best (and usually it ends up that the alliance with the bonus is not the one that's behind...).

the pop caps were stated to be 120/faction in current grey host

assuming all 4 states are equal, then it would be 30 players per bar (1 bar = 1-30 players, 2 bar = 31-60 players, 3 bar = 61-90 players, and the lock symbol would be 91-120 players)

if you get a queue to join the campaign, theres definitely 120 players in that faction at that moment

personally i would agree with @tomofhyrule that the biggest issue generally with cyro is population balance

if all 3 factions are locked, there generally is enough people there that its OK, but if its a 1/1/3 situation, then assuming my numbers are right on bar states, that is 2 factions with ~30 people or less each, and 1 faction with 90+ people each, which is 1/3 higher than even combining the 2 1 bar factions, so even if the 2 factions ganged up and attacked from different sides of the map, the 3 bar faction is still outnumbering them

what i would really like to see is a sort of population balance queue, as in no faction should be more than 1 bar apart from another faction

i know that would probably cause a problem in the current environment mainly due to faction locked characters, if you have a blue character you cant easily switch that without spending real money, so if the blue faction was overrun, theres nothing you can do, or if you are a more sweaty player looking for fights, if blue owns the map your also out of luck

if we truly want balanced pops, they would have to almost do away with factions on character creation, or only use it for where you start in pve, and just have cyro do kind of like BGs and have 3 other factions that it just puts people on to keep population balanced (obviously would allow queueing as groups to stay together type of thing)

ZoS would have to make Any Race Any Alliance free and automatically granted to all accounts. Then have people choose their alliance, kind of like how New World allowed you to do an initiation quest for a faction. Then sell alliance resets for 2 mil AP or whatever. I don't think the devs are gonna be able to remove things from the crown store. It'll be pulling teeth for them.

I don't really care either way, since as @tomofhyrule pointed out, the population imbalances are a much bigger issue that needs solving more than this. However I voted yes anyway, just so we can finally put an end once and for all to the constant misinformation spam surrounding PvP populations of different campaigns.

This would never happen because it would show objective data on how poorly populated cyro is, which would make the image of this game even worse than it is currently

Well 3 bar is going to be from 66% pop to 99% pop which is a huge swing. Its why everyone has always not cared about the bars since they are not useful at all.

    1 bar = 0-33%
    2 bar = 33% to 66%
    3 bar = 66% to 99%
    Full lock = 100% + que

Zos had stated the bars follow a linear representation of the pop values. Kevin had made a statement on it in one of the veng threads halfway down, but tbh I dont want to go digging for it.

Hi all, thanks for the continued discussion here. We want to share a point of consideration as we are seeing some comments around population when talking about the in-game graphs. The in-game population bar is representative of the current participants in a campaign, relative to the max cap of that campaign. So for example, if Gray Host is at 360/360, but Vengeance is 450/900, the graph will show Gray Host as 100% capacity while Vengeance is at 50%, even though Vengeance has more players. We wanted to provide that as you continue your conversations about population overall.

There is no reason for players to know the numbers, and we shouldn't know them.

Also, appearance is everything. If a campaign is pop locked, that doesn't mean players are actively fighting in PvP. They could be fishing, doing dolmens, doing delves, doing town quests, or checking the golden vendor for all we know. Which makes numbers useless.

Bars are better for a general knowing for amounts of players per alliance, as these do not prevent players from entering PvP for any irrational numerical 'reason' players minds can come up with.

PS: Screaming(repeatedly posting) either vengeance or grey host is dead does not make it so, despite some players on the forums trying to state this as fact. If they really are dead, ZOS will probably handle this in their own way anyways.

@ZOS_Kevin Yes maybe you can explain further to clarify if my brackets were correct. What are the transition points between the three bars. I assumed if they were linear you would divide the 99% by the 3 bars with 100% being full lock.

    1 bar = 0-33%
    2 bar = 33% to 66%
    3 bar = 66% to 99%
    Full lock = 100% + que

We know zos cant put an actual numbers for game competition reasons, but this may help clarify decades of people wondering.

I appreciate seeing more zos activity and involvement in recent conversations. Kinda feels like a switch has flipped, hope it continues.
