TSC addon suddenly switched xbox and ps around?

I had the correct PSNA addon installed since the mod author switched it, but suddenly this morning I get a chat message that I'm usimg the xbox na addon. Sure enough it is the one installed somehow and the PSNA has only 400+ users compared to xboxna, like it was recently uploaded. Did something go wrong with this? How can we trust this addon system? Anyone else get this today?

Same happened to me. Had to uninstall the XB version and reinstall the PSNA version. I'm guessing the update that went out today got them backwards.

It's not installed at all for me. I had it yesterday. the page for TSC price fetcher says it was created on Dec 10th.

I see on reddit that it was "Taken down due to a DDoS attack on their data server per the TSC discord server. No estimate on when it’ll be restored. It was taken down for all console (Xbox and PS)."

Yikes, thanks for the info. I'd have hoped the other price checker would be coming back at some point, through the official mod author. I preferred that one. Too bad console getting bad luck with these.

The other one won't be coming back since the stolen code and the author who stole it have been banned.

To be fair, the add-on had no price data for most items, so it wasn't really doing much anyway lol

Why is that addon using a server to store all the data? Shouldn't that all be handled within the game? Is that because they are only approving certain players to submit data now that the prices are based off of? Would be better if the data for the prices was gathered from either all current listings or from purchased sales provided from the Guild History. It's bad enough we have trading guilds bonding together to form alliances to control the popular trading spots. We don't need any more negative impacts on the trading economy of the game. This should have been addressed a long time ago.

The author of this price bot addon plays on Xbox NA. So do they also play on PlayStation or other megaservers? So how would they know if the people that are being added to their whitelist aren't bad actors or trying to manipulate the market with the data they are submitting? Maybe ZOS needs to audit the code and put better rules in place that can't effect the game's market. Farm bots have already ruined the market and can see lots of those materials at public auctions from the alliance trading guilds in the the traders. See stacks and stacks of decorative wax from alt accounts posted in traders. I don't think real players farmed all those mudcrabs themselves, lol.

I'm confused here.. The TSC addon doesn't use an intermediary server to pass live data to the console addons. That is why weely data is collated and distributed weekly via client side addon update to facilitate refreshing the data.

So how exactly would a DDoS attack effect that? There's no data stream for it to interrupt to render it non-functional.

I think their server stays up to collect data from whitelisted people throughout the week and then they push the data once a week (I think every Tuesday) through an update of the addon.

That should only result, at worst, in a delay in collecting data resulting in a delay in pricing updates. Not an interruption in function. PS players have been using the TSC addon for how long now despite the data being wildly innacurate due to it being curated from XBox guild data? My point being that I'm struggling to understand how a DDoS attack on TSC would result in a need to take down the addon altogether.

Does it make a difference if you visit the TSC site logged in or out? I don't have an account there, but right now it looks like they don't have a whole lot of data available on the public side.

Long story short, you are never most likely going to see the other price checker again.

The author of market tracker did not steal the code of the price checker itself. They stole the code of another add-on (beam me up). However, the data for market tracker *was* stolen from TSC. Thus, the malicious code was part of the official market tracker release. Which is why you will probably not see market tracker again, because it was the original author who did all that.

The DDOS of TSC is a ddos of the price collection, not the pricing add-on itself. (Probably by the author of market tracker) So right now, they're unable to collect pricing data. I suspect, rather than show old data, they've decided to simply take it off for now.

I sure hope so. Would be better if ZOS made their own pricing addon built into the game rather than having to install it. Would work way better than what we have now. And they could include all sales data from all transactions, which would be more accurate instead of selective transactions which is what the plan with the TSC Price Bot is going to be, once they get their server from being DDoS'd. Having ZOS build a price system into the game also removes any bad actors or variables from tainting the sales data.

One day you maybe be the developer for that? :p

Yeah, but I guess they created the guilds and no global trader for the server to exactly not having to deal with such haha (1 point at least).

ZOS already has sales data history for each transactions, if you go into the Guild's Sales History you can see that. Seems like a good QoL for them to have a price bot already built into a 10+ year old game? I think so. Would be a lot better than the addons we have now not being 100% reliable and incorrect data on console.
