Request for Housing music changer ♪

hi this is a request for the ability to change background Music in Housing.

This could be added via new House settings or a Collectible Furnishing, like Time and Weather Control.

if a furnishing it could be related to Y'ffre like how Time and Weather control are Alkosh and Kynareth items.
As Y'ffre in lore is also referred to as the Singer and the God of Song. And his Altmeri shrine looks like a Lyre.

ideally we would be able to change our House background music to any zone's music, hopefully including zones exclusive to quests and delves/dungeons incase they have unique music. Via a list of all the zones.

some examples including delve and quest exclusive zones:
- Clockwork City
- The Shadow Cleft (Clockwork City delve)
"Midnight in Shadow Cleft" from the Music in Tamriel Volume 2 album. (i assume that is exclusive to the delve)
- The Reach
- Blackreach Arkthzand Caverns (has different music than the surface Reach)
- West Weald
- Mirrormoor (West Weald quest zones)
"ithelia, Prince of Paths" from Gold Road's album. it is also heard at Mirrormoor incursions.
- Scholarium, Eyevea
"Ulfsild's Legacy" from Gold Road's album.
- Solstice
- Vale of Reverly (Solstice delve)
haven't heard the soundtrack from there anywhere else.

I'd love an option for ambient sound too, like the entrance in Hakkvild's High Hall.

Also, bard houseguests as another, separate music option!

To add to this I would love the sound from Music Boxes to cover a larger area, hey why not the whole house?

If I am to pay my hard earned cash to buy a music box I love the music from, I do NOT want to have to buy several to cover the whole area!!

The one nice thing about this is the ability to control what plays where. Many of the music boxes high-pitched, "tinkly" / "metallic" sound is grating to some of us and, unlike zone music that's designed to be fairly nonintrusive, it's hard to listen to music boxes for a long time. So sometimes it's nice to have it isolated to an area.

But agree: especially for the cost, some crown items are too limited in various ways. It'd be nice if they had an option to cover a full house or a range, if that wasn't too hard to code.

And speaking of music boxes and sound, it'd be nice if they were on the Music volume slider or something, instead of Effects. Some of us have Effects turned way down for their obtrusiveness too, so we can't even hear music boxes. Some volume controls are really not obvious: a friend in a guild recently discovered that's why she could barely hear MBs. And I found out that the annoying Dwemer Spider mounting sound is for some reason linked to Footsteps (I typically have turned up, since they're rather soothing) instead of Effects (with all the other nuisance noises

That's a good point. I never really bothered with music boxes before, since I could never hear much on the preview

The Nenalata one was my first music box purchase because it not only looked good, but sounded lovely.

I have since then bought a few more music boxes for their design but some of them can't be heard at the level I typically set my Effects to. All I hear is a faint tinkle. Eg. I've owned the "Y'ffre in Every Leaf" music box for a couple of years and still can't figure out what it sounds like.

Isn't this what music boxes are for?

EDIT: They should add self-playing instruments for background ambience, like the music boxes, and what you could so is bury these in a wall, ceiling or floor for music sans furnishing. Sorry, posting this when I'm tired. XD

no.
music boxes generally do not play zone music and are not for the entirety of a house.

the suggestion in your edit does seem nice too, just slightly different from my own post

It would be nice to be able to change the zone-soundtrack of a house, especially if one does a total conversion of a house. Since we already can change daytime and weather, zone-soundtrack would be another lovely addition.

Both muting music (which is what I meant by different sound sliders) and hiding grass in houses are available with EHT:

The effects will not carry over into overland, so you don't have to worry about changing the music and grass settings.

I've never seen those settings because they are probably EHT effects that I will never use. The reason I don't use them is because anyone that doesn't have EHT will not see them. If I remove grass in a house using EHT, or even the game slider, and someone comes in that doesn't use EHT or has their grass on, they will see grass sticking up through things I've placed.

Houses should have settings just for houses that everyone sees the way the owner decorated it. They do that now with the flowers on Seabloom Villa.

Houses should have their own rules.

I understand what you mean, but you can choose not to upload the effects to EHT Community. They remain saved only locally that way, which can probably be good enough for muting the music in houses that you own.

Having an option for stuff that you've brought up here for non-EHT users is something ZOS should definitely implement.

I keep wishing for this option while building in Bismuth Steam Baths.

Gorgeous house, but this particular zone's music is extremely grating; it doesn't bother me that much when exploring where sounds change as you travel, but it's far more obvious in housing that's otherwise silent. A certain repetitive section of the music is really annoying.

I wish I could just change the music instead of having to move the Elsweyr singing wall around with me (it has a long range, but not zone-wide) or turning off music completely.

It's been mentioned a couple times, but I would like to see some sort of ambient sound changer. Ex. Exterior howling wind, wind in cave, Grahtwood rainforest/jungle, underwater, busy tavern/inn...etc.

What i need is the ambient "music" or better noises from Grathwood. The faint animal noises, birds singing etc without any music. I love hanging out in Grathwood and in Snugpod specifically because of that relaxing ambient and would like that option in more houses without having music being layed over.
I dont like most of the music boxes because they have such high pitched noises that aggravate me after a while, but Grathwood is just brain bliss

I've been trying to spend some time in the Wild Chapel of Julianos, but I find the upbeat zone music ill-fitting to the wild and mystical verdancy of the home.

I was supportive of this idea before, but now it's urgent

Please let us change zone music in our homes, ZOS!

I just want the ability to turn the house music OFF!!! I absolutely love the Wildgrown Chapel of Julianos, but the music drives me crazy! It’s literally keeping me from decorating the house and moving in. So, the music in the house is basically losing ESO money because I’m not buying housing items to properly decorate the house. Please let me turn it off!!

@Lezaris You can turn music off in the setting, that includes houses music.

May be unpopular opinion but I never liked what they did with Western Skyrim music/atmosphere - OG Skyrim game had such relaxing music tracks but when I am in Western Skyrim homes I am forced to have "doomy" music, which defeats the purpose of something like the Alpine Gallery IMO.

Would very much approve the possibility to choose music inside homes.

Oh man! That's funny – I love that music, somehow it's really relaxing to me and it's one of the soundtracks I think of specifically for this, that I WANT in other houses!

But this is why a music changer would be wonderful for us all ^_^

i think we should have more furnishing pieces that make ambient sound, there are already some great ones like all the fountains that have nice water flowing sounds in different volumes, the deadlans thunder and lightning sticks (cant remeber the name)
They can all be sunk into walls if you dont want them to be seen. But i do agree that we need many more!
Little storm effect furnishings (like the swirls you get around stunned characters could be repurposed) with sound effects, wind howling, leaves rustling. The bird houses could make some bird song noises that could be switched on and off, or the beehives we already have should make some insect humming noises. Or just even small bird furnishings, dont need to be movable pets, just static sitting little birds that can be added.

Busy tavern noises would be amazing too!!
And i absolutely would do unspeakable thing for the Grathwood sound effects, i love the jungle vibes.

and if we also could get bard houseguests... oh my! oh what i would do for the male singer of red diamond to be in my house!
or even better let us assign emotes and mementos to our houseguests and compangions (that might actuallu entice me to buy some from the crown store, because i would never use them on my characteres during gameplay, but if they could be used to tell a story in houses.....)
