Skill points lost on regressive skill line...

I finished my random dungeon and got my Ardent Flame subclassed skill line to 42...
From there I spend 2 skill points on Inferno skill... taking me from 30 points to 28, because you see that Inferno is now available for purchase...
And I travel out of the dungeon and back to Vvardenfell... only to find my skill line has regressed back to level 39, and locked out the Inferno skill from me, even though I'm now short the 2 skill points I spent on it....
Can someone please explain??

✭Hmmm ... Definitely seems like a roll back on the skills. Did you get any skill point while doing the dungeon (one for quest, other for level)? If you did they may have been rolled back too, explaining the now missing 2 points.
Try levelling your AF line again, and see if the skill points "magically" return.

✭✭✭✭Your last screenshot shows that you purchased the World Of Ruin passive, whereas in the 2nd screenshot you hadn't purchased it yet. So that accounts for the 2 missing skillpoints.
