Maintenance for the week of November 24:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – November 24

It's nice that you've added animals to Hidden Spring Cottage, but...

...it would be better if the animals could be moved to a different location, just like the plants. I had to design my entire house around a "rabbit hutch" because I couldn't build over the bunnies!

I was surprised to discover how easy it is to fall a short distance to your death while exploring around the boundaries of the cottage's exterior environment. :D

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can turn the animals in different areas "off". You just have to find the interactable area nearby labeled "feeding spot" and toggle it.

    You absolutely can.

The bird house by the bridge turns birds on and off.
The feeding spot in the right yard turns animals in the right yard on and off.
The feeding spot in the left yard turns animals in the left yard on and off.

Yes, I also found that "feeding spot", to make the rabbit disappear, but it would be better, when we can just place them on a different spot - that they are not "lost".

Wait, that is what the feeding spots are for? I kept pressing the one I found-- and didn't realize there was another on-- but the only thing I noticed was that the screen faded to black for a monent. Truth be told, I was wondering if it might be some kind of spot for vampiric characters to feed at. :D

That one with the bird house only fades black for me too, but there is before nothing happening and nothing after. I dont know what the bird house should do, actually...

I would suggest that you found a great workaround that makes an interesting feature for your house.

And I am stealing your idea :)

The birds aren't as obvious as the other animals, but they are there. When it is on there are birds flying in the tree tops but they are small and not as prominent. But there will also be a red bird sitting on the railing of the bridge by the entrance, and 3 crows on the roof of the house. There may be more but these are what I've found so far.

If you don't see these then it's off so click the bird house again and they will appear.

I see birds in the screenshot that was posted. I downloaded it, cropped it then circled a flying bird and some crows on the roof.

I was expecting the birds to land on the bird house. It's a shame that they don't. Edited to say that I still love the house though :)

I didn't either until my friend showed me some flying in the trees. Then later I saw the red bird on the bridge when I first entered the house. I didn't see the crows until later when I climbed on the roof when looking around.

I expected birds to land on the birdhouse too, like @Buffy121 did, or at least near it. They need to make the birds more obvious.

They need to add usable binoculars to the game for bird watching.

Not only can you turn the animals off, you can also place foundations where they spawn and in many cases, they will spawn on top. When the house was only previewable on PTS, I tested it with an orcish counter and had it even levitate above the ground. The groundhogs would still spawn on top and fall into their idle animation set as if nothing was wrong.

In other words you don't need to leave a hole in your paving. You can either turn off the rabbits or build a pen on the same height as the rest of your buildings.

The main thing with the birds is the birdsong - with them switched off, it's quiet.

As much as I love this house, I found some major flaws with the porches and things not lining up correctly. I made a thread with screenshots here:

I bought the house because it is small and will be easy to furnish and the outside is nice with the critters although the birds could be better implemented--it's not intuitive at all.

But please, please let us explore the lower area! I really don't understand why it is left out or why we die when the fall is not far. Stick a ladder or some vines we can climb back up.

I strongly considered buying it, then discovered that you can't get down to the lower level and trying kills you. The best part of the house being inaccessible is a dealbreaker for me.

I love how that lower area looks and wish that we could get to it very much!
