Field Marshals Jumping to Players Not in Combat With Them, or Even in the Same Room

I was in the Forgotten Crypts public dungeon earlier today, and I encountered some strange behavior from one of the invading field marshals.

On the map below, the field marshal was at location 1, where I guess it was fighting at least one player, I was at location 2, and another player was at location 3. I was not in combat with anything (I had just killed a group of mobs), and the player at location 3 was fighting some mobs there.

Suddenly, the field marshal, which I didn't even know was active or being fought, appeared out of nowhere attacking me with a jump/gap closer attack, and then used the same attack to jump to the player at location 3, who also wasn't fighting it. As soon as it got to location 3, the boss fight reset and it ran back to its starting location at 1 fully healed.

Is it really intended that these bosses can jump to attack players who not only aren't fighting it, but aren't fighting anything or even in the same room and don't have line of sight to it? If so, is it really intended that they'll do this even if the jump takes them far enough away from their spawn location to reset the fight? Why doesn't anything related to this Wall event work properly?

    Hah, I've had the same thing happening in a delve, I was crouching in a separate room next to the room with the marshall, in a completely different area and out of sight, and I noticed that the spider marshal would drop lightning AoEs inside my room, and the NB marshall would ambush my character all the way from their spawn point, through walls and corridors. I bet a lot of players in Cyrodiil would like that ability :D It only happened when the marshal was engaged by another player, I think they will just aggro on all players in the vicinity even if the players are not in combat.

    The mobs are learning ... it reminds me of the frost mage in KA, just before the 1st boss. Everytime we pull that group I swear that mage ends up nearer and nearer the sea.

    This was happening on console prior to the update, I saw it occurring during the Witches fest. PSNA

    Actually I'm like 70% sure this has been happening on PSNA since at least October 23rd. That's when I created the thread about what the event rewards are. I created that thread in part because I had decided I wanted to farm up the furniture the field Marshalls dropped. I managed to get everything except the lamp. But, that's neither here or there.

    Since I was farming, I had set a timer to mess with the boss every 4 minutes. But, I had to move really far away to avoid battle and there wasn't really any safe space to afk for 4 minutes since then I had to deal with the mobs

    So I ended up switching to the delve with the troll in a different room near the general. Even waiting in the next room didn't always result in avoiding being pulled in by the boss because it's aggro radius was huge.

    It's been happening since the event started, but the event will be over before they have to worry about fixing it. Problem solved I guess.

    This has been happening for me on PS NA since the start of the Witches Festival.

    I had the boss hard targeted and saw his white outline jump through the wall of the room he was in and teleport to several other locations in the hallways around his original location. I think it is only the boss with the sorc lightning form animation around him.

    I didn’t report it because it’s very positional in nature, probably not an issue anywhere else unless he is close to narrow hallways in another location.

    EDIT: so it’s going to be hard to prevent this from happening in all environments is my guess
