Magicka Arcanist, solo one bar build for casual player.

kubuspu3hatek
Hello, I' am casual player. Finally i get 160 CP. I play Arcanist, based on magicka (my class is high elf).

I'm currently playing with this setup:

Order's Wrath (5/5 items)

Innate Axiom (5/5 items)

Slimecraw (1 item)

Oakensoul Ring

I'am mixed light and medium armor.

My weapon is Lighning staff.

Can you advise me how to arrange the skill bar for simple and good dps?

To generate the crux I will use Escalating Runeblades or Cephaliarch's Flair (I know the latter is stronger, but I often run out of stamina when spamming this skill)

Pragmatic Fatecarver - another skill I definitely want to use

The Tide King's Gaze - I think this will be the best ultimate for dps for me (unless you have another idea)

And here the question arises what next. Is it worth adding a skill that deals AoE damage? If so, which one?

I'm playing solo, so I'll probably need something to boost health, but which skill should I use?

I'd like to play around with subclasses and use skills from the Assassination, Storm Calling, or Animal Companions lines (I already have these subclass skill lines well developed, I have played the Sorcerer and Warden classes in the past and I like these two classes)

At the moment I have developed Soul Magic (5 level), Undaunted (5 level), Fighters Guild (8 level, however, this line is easy to develop further) and currently I am developing Mages Guild and Psijic Order.

I found this build: https://arzyelbuilds.com/eso-one-bar-magicka-arcanist-solo/ but does it make sense, when i use Oakensoul Ring? For example, the Surage skill gives us Major Brutality and Sorcery, but I already have this from the ring, and does it make sense to double it for a small healing on critical attacks?

Thanks for all the advice and see you in the game!

PS: Is it possible to set a countdown to the end of an active skill on the console?

Okay. You need to make a decision. Do you want to keep Oakensoul Ring or ditch it and become really awesome. See, the truth is that Oakensoul is a good Mythic for transitioning towards better gear and Mythics. Although I enjoy an Orc Stamina Arcanist that uses Oakensoul, I would always recommend Velothi-Ur or Mora's Whispers over it.
Speaking of which, the Stamina Arcanist works well with Oakensoul, Assassination and Aedric Spear. The Magicka Arcanist doesn't, though.

Whatever you decide to do, I think the best choices for you are to replace Innate Axiom with Tide-Born Wildstalker first and then see if you drop Oakensoul. Because at some point you'll notice that it is the Oakensoul ring that holds you back.
As for the Subclassing options, I'd recommend not going too deep into that rabbit hole, because you'll probably want to change it to something else once you decide to play full on two bar.
I chose Dawn's Wrath instead of Curative Runeforms for my Altmer Arcanist, because I'll have more direct damage this way and also have a damage bonus plus higher spell damage. .... And the beam ... Yes. 🙄
But that isn't a must have choice. There are more and better options, but all will dictate how you'll have to play. And some options might not fit you.

For a magicka one bar solo build with Oakensoul, you could go with Herald of the Tome, Animal Companions and Storm Calling skill lines. Your skill bar could then look like this:
    • Escalating Runeblades
    • Pragmatic Fatecarver
    • Deep Fissure (it applies Major Breach to enemies, which increases your Penetration. You'll need some way to apply that debuff if you ever intend to solo instanced content such as Dungeons.)
    • Inspired Scholarship
    • Critical Surge (even though you won't need the Major Brutality/Sorcery, the heal is nice and slotting it also increases your Weapon/ Spell Damage by 108. If you don't need the healing, you could swap it for Blue Betty or Hurricane though.)
    • Wild Guardian (or The Languid Eye in encounters with more enemies)

Most (if not all) of the builds you'll find are recommended for trials, so forget about them if you're playing solo.
When playing solo, you'll still need to complete group dungeons (in a group) and WB with companion or other players, but without a group. Therefore, your gear (for example, Oakensoul gives you Slayer+Aegis for group dungeons) and skill lines/active bar should be tailored to your role (both in a group and solo). For example, when solo, you'll need heal and magicka refilling (otherwise you'll be using heavy attacks frequently). You should also consider whether you'll be range (most skills are single-target) or in close combat (are you ready to take on a dragon in melee?). For example, the first bar is for melee, the second for ranged, and you can toggle Oakensoul on and off to switch bars !!before!! combat. Don't forget about ultimate (they are very different too).
Skill lines of every class have the similar main purpose with a few differences (one for damage, one for healing, and one for sustain/tank), so I'd recommend swapping out mostly similar skill lines except for the one you don't use (I suggest it's sustain line but pay attention to passives). Problem with arcanist is that they heavily depend on generating/spending Crux, problem with necro is that they depend on corps (worse in case of WB), problem with any skill line is that they demand at least one skill from the line. Some skill lines work better the more skills from them you place on the bar (for example, Storm calling and Assasination), so you have to choose what you gain/lose.

I play a modified version of this build, Two button Arcanist.

I'm stamina, but only because I use the stamina version of flail, most everything else is magicka, and that works ok if you want to change the glyphs on the armor. I use Briarheart (Wrothgar or guild traders) and Hexos Ward (deadlands or guild traders). Oakensoul and Slimecraw. Lightning staff.

My skills are: Ceph Flail, Pragmatic Fatecarver, Ulfsild's Contingency with Heal/Heal/Resolve *, Elemental wall, Inspired Scholar, and the moving Eye as ultimate.

Briarheart and Hexos are for survivability, I am very tough to kill, even with most DLC worldbosses. I use this for no-death runs in vet dungeons, but change to a damage build for speed runs, HMs etc.

    * Ulfsild's with heal/heal/resolve is a nice mix of both of the Vigor morphs. It's a self-heal, a group heal, and provides minor resolve. This is a magicka skill, and since I'm stam, it's a nice sustain option, and I'm rarely low enough on mag that I can't use it.

My damage build right now is using Deadly and Wildstalker, or Slivers of the Null Arcana, depending.
