NW opportunity for ESO

Did you even play NW? The game was booming at the time of the announcement. The biggest complaint was the queue times to get in to play the game. The season's premium track was selling like hotcakes. Every indicator showed that the game was on the rise. Each interval between spikes plateaued higher than the previous interval over the past year.

Honest question... how involved were you with the game itself? Or are you basing your statemets on speculation because 'that's how for profit comanies operate'?

It's irrelevent if the game was "booming". Amazon are there to make money. If the game was not making them money reliably and predictably it's going to get shelved.

Now, another company may come along and say "Ooo you are making a bit of money, and while it might be too small for Amazon, we'd like that money", and then they will pay a chunk of money to Amazon for the rights, and the game may yet continue.

Knowledge of the game is irrelevent; knowledge of finances and for-profit companies is what you need to understand this.

It’s just not going to happen. I hope it happens. 😢

The game was built on a unique engine, just like ESO, so they would need to rehire the old team and so many people are in the process of moving back home, I doubt they’d come back for less pay.

Amazon did a valuation spike with Nighthaven right before the announcement, now the game is worth much more than most will be willing to pay.

The very point that Amazon isn't even entertaining the idea of shopping for a buyer is very telling. It means they intend to hold onto and keep the IP assets it holds as they have significant value or a place in whatever their next venture is.

Amazon wants to venture into AI markets, and instead of splitting resources into two separate ventures, they're shuttering the old one, and keeping all that valuable IP for use with the new one.

So no.. It's not available for another company to come along and say "Ooh! Can we buy that?".

Or it may be because Amazon doesn't need the money from its gaming division and the non-gaming big chiefs would rather close it down.
