Maybe they will be smart and put in a use for fish when they introduce poisons. You need a certain fish to create a poison potion that is then added to a weapon. On the flip side, you need a certain fish to create a cure potion for said poison. Different fish create different poisons and cures, add in maybe a couple extra effects for rare fish like cures you and heals for a bit. You have killed 2 birds with one stone. You have made a use for fishing while at the same time added a new use for alchemy.
