[ToT] Game crash - can we abolish deserter penalty and maybe even (gasp!) points loss?

I'm sure it's been asked before.
The fact that a ToT add-on is not even tracking the match that was stopped through an act of the Tribunal  as an actual match gives me hope that some parameter could be used to implement a decision step at some point, even by exclusion, e.g., when the game ends.
- did one player concede? if YES, all good; if NO:
- did one player gain the favor of all patrons? if YES, all good; if NO:
- did one reach 40 prestige + the other failed to catch up OR did one reach 80 prestige? if YES, all good; if NO > what if this was a game crash and neither player needs to be penalized?

Deserter penalty is inane and I'm all for removing it. It doesn't serve any purpose, it's not getting more flak because it's character-based (so can be avoided by a simple relog) and so is useless even in being a nuisance.

As for rank points, imagine this. I'm in a match and I see a loss coming. I Ctrl-Alt-Del the process or yank my network cable for disconnect — and the game magically doesn't count anymore. Yay?
I've lost quite a lot of games to disconnects (my provider changes my IP daily), but I know that ESO cannot distinguish bugs of its own client or 3rd-party action from player's abuse, so it must count a technical loss as a loss.

It hadn't occurred to me that someone might willingly go to such lengths to cheat, but, yeah, I see no technical way around this scenario.
