What happened to the "watery creatures" in Crows Wood Public Dungeon?

One of today's endeavors is the kill watery creatures quest. So I went to Crows Wood public dungeon in Stonefalls expecting to see the swamp full of the watery creatures that are usually there. They're not there anymore. Even the Neriad boss that's normally there is something different and much stronger now.

What's going on here? Is this a temporary event change or a permanent one? Was this change discussed in patch notes somewhere?

And if this change is permanent, where is a good place to find "watery creatures" now?

These are the kinds of changes that really frustrate us ZOS. It's not a huge deal, but so many of these changes lately it's just annoying and the effect adds up.

That's one of the places with the blue pixely fire under the icon, right?

That means the "Worm Cult has invaded" based on the wall event. It'll be back to normal at some point.

Crow's Wood is one of the public dungeons invaded by Worm Cultists during the Writhing Wall event so i imagine those creatures were replaced by the Worms and Daedra. it should be back to normal after the event in November.

i just did the endeavour with Wispmothers and wisps in Blackreach Arkthzand Caverns.
there's also Wisps right outside Serenity Falls Estate in Reaper's March.

Reaper's March has a Nereid world boss in the south at Waterdancer Falls.
Windshriek Strand is another Nereid world boss in Malabal Tor.

uesp mentions Lower Craglorn, Weeping Giant, Grahtwood, Shada's Tear, Blackreach: Greymoor Cavern.
and that Sea Giants count too, which are in Kyne's Aegis trial and Frozen Coast delve in Western Skyrim.

Crows Wood a public dungeon, not a delve. I did not notice any special icon over the dungeon like there are over some delves that fit your description. I know those are only temporary. There are no special event icons over Crows Wood public dungeon that I noticed. I'm upset because this appears to be a permanent change to me. Hope I'm wrong.

Anyone know where to find "watery creatures" if this is a permanent change?

I always go to Chiselshriek Mine in Craglorn. Once you get past the first mob, there's a wisp fountain right away. You can get like 15 wisps in a matter of seconds.

Yep, Crows Wood has been invaded.

It's super hard to see the event icon underneath the Public Dungeon icon though. That's what got me. You can just barely see the event icon because it's underneath the dungeon icon. There is just a teeny tiny little blue sliver of the event icon that is visible.

Thanks for the help figuring out what's going on everyone.

I keep that in mind for a second option for the endeavor. Tyvm!

Waterdancer Falls is my go to for this endeavour. A wayshrine is right nearby.

Ty. That looks like a nice convenient location for the next time the endeavor rolls around.

Why would the worm cult be invading Nocturnal's Realm?

@Lucasl402, I don't think Crow's Wood has ever had "watery" creatures. [Edit: Actually, it did.] I think you're making the same mistake about this endeavor that I did a few months ago regarding a world boss in the Rift. The mobs and boss you're thinking about are wisps and a wispmother, not a nereid, and I think wisps and wispmothers count as "amorphous" foes, not "watery" foes-- although I might be confused about that. [Edit: I had it backwards. Wisps and wispmothers count as watery foes, not as amorphous foes.]

Anyway, I think other people have helped you find some watery foes to kill. As for me, I'll go fight the wispmother world boss in the Rift to see if it counts for the "watery foes" endeavor. [Edit: It did.]

Why would the worm cult be invading Nocturnal's Realm?

Because they're working for Molag Bal, not for Nocturnal? Maybe they're wanting to use the portal from Crow's Wood to Davon's Watch as a stealthy doorway to invading Stonefalls? I dunno.

Real answer: Because it's a public dungeon, and all public dungeons in base game zones have been modified for the event.

This sounds similar to a delve I like to go to for killing Dwarven constructs for Endeavors, and since it was invaded all of the swarming Dwemer spiders no longer spawned. I would prefer to not name the location as it is busy enough already.

Why do these new enemies have to displace what was already there? Why can’t they respawn in an empty location?

This could cause the same problem as there is with the soul reapers and sweepers, now there are neither.

It seems to vary by location quite a bit. In one I was at, the invaders were restricted to one side room and the passages leading to it. I think it all depends on where the usual boss is located, as they have been replaced. If they were in a central location with lots of adds, you get the situation you described instead.

Shadowfend and Greenshade have some areas with Whisps

The Wispmother boss in The Rift, just outside Riften to the north, is an easy and quick place to do the "watery foes" endeavor. You can literally complete the endeavor in a couple of seconds without even killing the boss, because of all the wisp adds that she summons at the beginning of the fight.

I always get my watery creatures in Greenshade right beside the Serpents Grotto Wayshrine. 💦
