The Events Caltrops skill style is a joke

The only one reason i would of participated that event is i love the skill caltrops and how the skill style looks here, is mega cool

But now i have seen how it actually looks and instantly stopped farming and logged off, incredible dissapointed over the waste of time.

What is this? If its advertised with bones, why are there no bones ? This doesnt match the icon at all and makes me skip the wall event now since i can really not be bothered with all these bad rewards.

We complained about this on PTS

. It's a cool style-- it's like gloambound or the sorcerer aesthetic... but it's not in any way bones or even necromatic.

Why did they even put the bones in the icon? First the dissapointing pumpkin skillstyle and now this. Does the person making the icons not have a communication line with the person making the skill style? Since that's now two icons that don't match the skill style, all tho these calltrops are by far the worse offender of the 2....

It's ZOS and Bethesda, there is no QA department or continuity verification. They have Microsoft and it's shareholders to report to so they're on minimal development staff with directions focus on the cash shop, and eso plus at a less than minimum budget.

For those of you enjoying it, I am happy for you but this year has been a huge ESO disappointment for me so far. Hopefully Witches Fest won't be ruined by some random ZOSness.

I agree that there is nothing "bone" related to it, but why were you farming for it now? It does not start dropping until phase 2.

I loved caltrops back in the day when I used it on my main khajiit nightblade, then it got nerfed. The animation back then was the same shapes only had a metallic appearance, now the caltrops are made of bone like material but not actually bone shaped. Perhaps that is the misunderstanding.

Players expected bones not just bone colour on the caltrops

Not for nothing but farming for them now is a waste of time. The fragments don't drop until Phase 2.

I actually like the style. That said, I fully agree that t looks nothing like advertised and I have no idea what it has to do with bones XD

Also, requiring 25 drops feels like its going to be grueling with how boring the event is and how low the drop rates are...

I mean, that's typical of a lot of the styles. You can't even notice the difference, sometimes even if you are looking at it. Is my poison arrow red now? Yes, but most of the time you can't tell. Snipe is more visible at least.

Very disappointing. I agree with the comments above that the style doesn't look bad: I kind of like it. But if the name of the style is "bone" I expect those caltrops to be made from bones!

What is especially annoying is that npcs for example in moongrave fane dungeon use a skill that shoots up bone spikes from the ground that could have been used - it already is in the game...the skill was originally even planned for the necro:

Yikes ... I noticed recent other skill styles were less-than-spectacular as well, like they spent more time on the drawing of the style than the actual animation of it.

Ex: The pumpkin one in the crown store.

All skill styles are a joke. They add nothing needed to the game and it's dev time poorly spent. Custom actions are a similar waste of dev resources.

One could say the same for any of the cosmetics/customizations. One would be wrong though. More customization in an MMORPG is always welcome.

true and some skill style do a decent job in altering the visuals but some are just lazy and uninspired

For bone caltrops they could have also simply used the impaling shards skill from warden and recolor it in bone color and it would have been much better and more interesting

Not having seen the style in-game, I'm guessing the necromancer aesthetic comes from the black swirls. Without the black swirls, it would definitely look like a sorcerer skill.

I like it. While I agree the "bone" label might be misleading, I think it's more versatile like this.

It should be redesigned to actually be bones or renamed to Caltrops, Periwinkle. This is just a recolor not a design change.

im hoping that its adjusted before we are actually able to unlock it, since its currently not available

true - use make a new design where bone fragments or skulls get dropped or use the impaling spikes skill that npc use or use the impaling shards skill from warden and recolor/redesign that one...

True, but I was hopeful after the last blade cloak style we got from a golden pursuit - that was beautifully done.

I should've not got my hopes up after seeing the arcanist pumpkin though, that thing just makes the character look like some kid holding the worlds flashiest festival balloon 🫤

Holy moly , thank you for sharing this picture. At least now I know that it’s not worth to chase after the fragments. That’s sad expecting high effort from players to collect a lot of fragments ,
for a low effort color re- skin

At least you've been able to preview a free skill style. The new Nocturnal skill styles in the crown store don't let you preview Swarm, so...

Most of the skill styles worth having are paid-only. Which sure is something. I think the 3-pack of crow ones that just dropped in the store today would have been a much more enticing reward.
