Most of you won't be brand new players, BUT you might not own each of the store upgrades and might have considered buying some during the sale. Please give this a watch if you are unsure about them at all, and which you need. :) 🫶

Text Guide in case you hate video's.

Hello everyone, this is for any returning players. Curious players looking to upgrade. Those who might be looking into buying the game for the first time etc.

I have seen and heard of so many people buying the wrong content for their needs, and its not fully their fault. It's arguably Zos's fault entirely. Seasoned ESO players know what they are reading and what they are getting when buying ESO content, but if you try to view the store like a new player with no background in it. It genuinely would make very little sense and is counter intuitive to what most other online server games have setup.

Ideally this video, or the text breakdown will save some of you from making a $20-100 purchase and being like "WTH I didn't get the thing I wanted most?!?"

    The short text version is:

Standard Edition is the base game, the original zones which has tons of content for $5 on sale, or even $20 full price. This is a very valid purchase for any new player and can yield a lot of joy.

The 2025 Content Game Pass, will NOT get you access to ALL content. It will get you access to the most recent releases in 2025, which is essentially just Solstice. Its just a new, more confusing term for buying the expansion for "reasons". But you WILL need this to fully participate in Writhing Wall, do all the quests, the dungeon when it comes out, any exclusive unlocks etc. I have a video for that as well if you want to investigate further and see if its worth it for you.

The 2025 Premium Edition, will give you access to all of these past DLC's:

Morrowind: Adds the island of Vvardenfell.

Summerset: Adds the isle of Summerset and Jewelry Crafting.

Elsweyr: Adds the northern region of Elsweyr.

Greymoor: Adds Western Skyrim and the Antiquities system.

Blackwood: Adds the Blackwood zone and Companions.

High Isle: Adds the High Isle and Amenos zones and more Companions.

Necrom: Adds the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha zones.

Gold Road: Adds the West Weald zone.

While this sounds great, it is entirely pointless if you plan to play with ESO+. As ESO+ will give you access to all of that content as well, with the exception of some minor collectible/cosmetics. BUT guess what? The 2025 content pass gives you those same collectibles anyway. LUL.

    ESO+

This option + Standard Edition get you access to almost the entire game for a very affordable price month to month.

Full access to all DLC game packs available in the Crown Store — new zones, quests, and dungeons!¹

1650 crowns per month to spend in the in-game Crown Store.³

Access to exclusive Crown Store offers and deals.

Unlimited storage for crafting materials with the Craft Bag.²

Double Bank space for your account.

10% increase to Experience, Gold, Alliance Points (Currency, PvP Skill Lines, and Alliance rank only), Tel Var Stones (monster kills only), Archival Fortunes acquisition, Crafting Inspiration, and Trait Research speed.¹

Double Furnishings and Collectibles space in your homes.

Double currency cap for Transmutation Crystals.

    Exclusive ability to dye costumes.

My best advice, imo. Is to buy Standard, ESO+ and the Content Pass ONLY if you wish to partake in the current limited time event and get the goodies which come with it. Otherwise, if its less important to you. The actual game is absolutely massive and has thousands of hours of gameplay/collecting/story etc without the content pass.

I hope this helped, and let me know if you have any questions in the comments or things ive missed. I will try my best to help per usual. <3

Thanks for this! I had hoped to play my husband's character while he's away working, to participate in the event, but he doesn't have the content pass. I just assumed since he had plus he had access! Forgot all about this seasons content now.

No problem at all! Happy I was able to help, and good luck on your reward drops. ^.^

Morrowind and Imperial City were made free for all players a while back. They might still need to be "purchased" via the ingame store though (but they're free).

These are very useful bits of update info, admittedly I have owned it all for a very long time so I definitely did not know of these nuances. I know the majority of the advice still fits but it will be good for anyone who sees this to know these corrections. :)
