The third phase of the wall should be a large scale war between player and monsters

Am I the only one who thinks that the third phase of the wall event should be a massive battle between the player and the worm cult, like a war in an open field with several legions of monsters?

    No, you’re not the only one. I’ve heard others say the same.

    For those who want to know early, my perspective from pts:
    It is. Will have to see how well it goes though, they’re not solo instances. It’s like the deadlands portals in a way.

    On one hand, I would absolutely love a large scale open battle between the players and a large number of powerful (if just high health pool) enemies we have to either defend against or fight thru. It would create a sense of community and camaraderie with everyone logged in at the moment.

    On the other hand? A couple of Arcanist/Sorc Beam builds will most likely clear the field in seconds ruining the entire thing.

    They could have created something like a live war with an interactive map for conquest, where you can deploy and well do the fighting.

    In my experience, PvE events that are balanced for large numbers of players are a short lived thrill. Anything that can not be beaten by a single group in a reasonable timeframe is likely to be abandoned. Many players don't enjoy hitting stuff without feeling their own contribution. Usually this type of content needs serious incentives, because it is very dull. Reminds me of some GW2 meta events, which I consider the most draining "gameplay" I have experienced, where a bunch of semi-afk farmers get carried by a handful attentive players.
    You see it with especially with Mirrormoor incursions outside of primetime, where players would actually rather wait for 1-2 others to spawn the main boss before they even bother to step in. And that is already tuned in a way that it can be soloed just fine.
    So for me it is a no thank you when it comes to large scale PvE open world events. Too many leechers, too little value.

    That might be interesting but if it was truly large scale it would turn into a lagfest slideshow. And given the current state of balance pushing people to a beam based subclassing meta, it would be a sea of green beams and dead monsters.

    And overall, I have been so disappointed in this change to seasons and the rather thin content that Solstice part 1 consisted of, I have little motivation to even bother with the event. I might log in and do a bit if I have time but I am enjoying other games right now that have more interesting content and events going on and WW is the bottom of the list and will only get attention if I finish stuff in other games for the day and have a bit of time left for it.

    On a side note, would be appreciated if the event after completion would leave an area that is "spell scar 2.0" so that we have a new power-leveling ground.
