Poll: Do you prefer the old or new templar spear model

As someone that has been playing Templar for over 10 years I have seen a bit of a split of the jab spear model change. For me personally I prefer the new model because the old one was didn't look like a spear but a cylinder model with pointed tips and no detail but being bright yellow. However I wanted to make this poll if you prefer the old or the new one.

I actually always disliked the old one for its dated look, but I totally did not expect them to make it worse by changing it to a non-unique existing staff skin without any tangible relevance.

    How?
    Why?
    Really?

I prefer the new(er) model, quite frankly I always found the old one ugly and unfitting. Still I'd prefer having a true spear over that staff, but at least it's somewhat spearlike.

The old model was low poly, and as such made it less of a defined thing and more like a spear of light. Not to mention that the other Aedric Spear skills still use that model, so there is consistency in the kit.

The new model is clearly a Nighthollow staff, which has a lorebook that directly states “a Nighthollow staff features a headpiece in the form of a wide-bladed spearhead. This is generally not used for stabbing.”

The staff, while I think is worse than the bright pointy stick in terms of manifest magic, would be fine for me. It's the animation change that went alongside it that really bothers me.

It used to have a forceful one-handed thrust as the last hit, now it has a 2 handed slash that literally looks like a shoveling motion. You would never use a slashing motion with a spear since they typically have a single pointed end.

I don't much like the new animation or the use of the nighthollow staff.

The old animation felt a lot more 'impactful'.

The new one is much too 'floaty' and makes it look like either through clumsiness or incompetence I can't connect the hits, I just shovel the air around the target(s).

When they changed jabs almost everybody in discussions/polls(>90%) wanted to get old animation back and only few liked new spear better.
Seems like ignoring them is a viable tactic as now 3 years later players seemingly got used to new animation with some having started to like it more or not even remembering how the old one looked.

The older one, although simplistic, used a unique model, the new one just reutilizes the Nighthollow Staff.

And there's also the problem of how every other Aedric Spear skill utilizes the older model, by updating Jabs only they made it inconsistent with the rest of the skill line.

I'm all good for updating skill effects, but if you're not willing to put effort into creating a cool unique model, why even update it at all? If they wanted to rework Jabs and Aedric Spear in general they could update the effects to something close to the TES Legends version of Piercing Javelin, which actually looks unique and cool.

I had a Templar after launch but didn't play it much and deleted it, so I don't remember what the old animation looked like. I made my current Templar after the changes and think the new animation is fine.

Not mine but for others, yes. Also I think some people almost threw a riot in game one time because a tree was slightly off in a region. Might be misremembering it but yeah.

I prefer the old model as a simple spear of light. I greatly prefer the old animation over the new (wet noodle) animation. The deal breaker for me though, was the damage nerf that rendered the skill no longer worthy of a slot for my OakenTemplar.

The new jabs animation isn't a spear. It's a night hollow stave. Literally, it's a night hollow stave. It's not a spear of light like all the other templar spear of light animations are.

This is the change that made me realize ZOS might be slipping off the edge of sanity.

Well, the night hollow staves are made using spear heads, so they aren't necessarily exclusive to the night hollow staff.
Made from a long rod of dark iron, a Nighthollow staff features a headpiece in the form of a wide-bladed spearhead. This is generally not used for stabbing, and instead focuses and directs the weapon's destructive energy.

I could live with this part if the skill itself didn't suck and have a goofy animation.

I think the animation is ok with the exception of the final "stab". If we could have the old animation with the current model (nighthollow staff), it would be perfect for me. And of course they'd need to change the model for the other skills in the line as well.

And it's not the only animation that was changed for the worse... Flurry looked way better in it's old version as well. The new one looks like someone incompetent is flailing around with weapons, it's particularly bad if you use daggers or swords.
I really don't know why it was changed.

The original spear looked more like it was made of light to me, and I liked the five straight jabs. It matches the other templar light skills as well. The hip swivel in the new jabs is just ridiculous.

What Zeni could do is simply to decrease the animation time (as the old one lasted more than 1s GCD)
why they changed the Divine spear into a shabby Nighthollow Staff - i have no clue, but aesthetically new animation is a loss :'(

No, ZOS never ever changes the cosmetic appearance of anything after it has been released (due to the conundrum with the OG Redguard motif).

Unless they do ofc, but again even if they do, they don't.
