What I think the issue with ESO is

@Dimorphos i m sorry to say that, but comparing ESO and WoW is like comparing grapes and oranges.

These two MMOs are designed way to differently.
i played Wow and the times of Burning Crusade and Lich King (e.g. 70s and 80s max levels) so i still have some recollections:
    1. Grind. with new expansion you MUST grind newer top level gear. Not a task for ESO as CP160 is the top gear level and you still can wear Hundings/Mothers Sorrow plus Orders Wrath and do a DECENT damage, as player skills are the key, not the top gear
    2. Guilds. i can not imagine WoW without being in a guild. your only Guild in WoW is you mother, father, and best friend all-in-one. You can play ESO totally solo. Guilds are formal and receive ZERO love from Zeni. Guilds are not uniting people in ESO as it is designed as single-player Skryrim online. Most of quests force player into solo instances, so playing with friend/spouse is out of the question. Things started to change slightly only in two years ago in Necrom with Infinite Archive (which is designed as duo Arena) and to some extend Bastion Nymic, though the later is still soloable.
    3. Content. After players consume new content (new Chapter/Season) they are to return to mundane tasks, like farming or to hibernate until new content arrives.
    4. Economy. It has not destruction or expiration, so most of players have too little incentives to farm. Why shall i farm rubedite ingots if i already have 100K of them (and other players and theirs mothers also have 100K+ rubedite ingots, so noone buys them ar Guild Traders) - the game has not destruction and gear you crafted 5 years ago is still OK today. There is no "your level 100 gear got obsolette, and you have to craft level 110 gear now with the new expansion"

Not to talk that much: ESO is designed as massive single-player game, not forcing players to progress. most of established players fit this game design idea. Which is highly natural in my books. No progression needed just by design.

Yes they are different games for sure but there are enough similarities that you can compare them on some level and there are great many things that ESO being the "lesser" of the two could learn from the genre giant. I tend to compare these games because I have most experience from these two. The similarity is like 60-70%. I don't wish for ESO to become just like WOW is, but I would like certain aspects of WOW to be implemented into ESO.

Good to see that so many people gave so much to this threat already. But it is also a scary thing because the message here seem to be unanimous:

So then my perspective was ignored?

we are speaking about ESO PC situation since I think console side has been quite dead for a long time.

And yet it very much is not dead. I dunno what amount of players you consider to be "active" but theres still plenty of people running around.

No. It’s not a player problem.

The devs have created such an imbalance they’ve removed any competitiveness from their own game. That’s why you see a fall off in higher tiers. The imbalance is so bad it’s eliminated content.

Why grind for certain gear when it’s 90% trash? Why level a new character when I can subclass into it? Why theorycraft when they force Vengeance no build PvP? Why do Vet mode when I can get keys on normal?

This is not the fault of the players.

    *edit for more context*
Imagine being a top tier PvEr prior to subclassing. You’re top Magblade. Now you’re 122nd on the board, but still top magblade.
