Someone just got all the leads. He needed around 350 maps to finish those leads.
Maybe you could ask him about strategies there. On the first sight it looks like he didn't excavated any leads, where he got 3 entries already.

I've already talked with them on an older post about the same subject, and yes indeed it needed around 350/400 maps to get this lead, which again is absolutely mental if intended. he had to keep the purple tree lead unscryed/unexcavated otherwise nothing else would drop, thus proving AGAIN thats its a bug

350 maps to finish all 30 leads is actually pretty less. That's 12 maps for each lead on average. There are worse leads, like the 300 coldharbor chests for all 3 entries for example. That's 100 tries for each lead on average.

To leave other leads unexcavated was just a theory. I tested it myself on high isle and deadland treasure map leads and as someone posted above: You cant force leads with it. So you can also just excavate everything till all leads dropped.

i'm well above 300 maps for a single specific lead in west weald, i really struggle to believe it only took only 300 for every lead x3

Agree; I used significantly fewer maps than OP, but compared to other zones, WW drops during that event were not good.

But there's also a second problem: Even if you complete the antiquity, you may not be able to buy it.

Just wanted to follow up here. Our teams are still looking into this. We tested on PC and leads are dropping, specifically with West Weald treasure maps on the live server. So we are not seeing an issue there. Still investigating.

I think the issue is specific to second and potentially third drops of leads, except the grand tree lead, which drops a lot. I have 14 of these myself.

I used IA to grab 7 maps at a time. Thie first seven gave me six leads. I had every lead found via treasure maps my the second batch of 7 maps. I excavated all leads. These were all my first instances of leads outside of THE TREE.

Since then I have done 8 batches of 7 leads. Meaning I opened 56 treasure maps. I have gotten the tree again and one green lead.

Something is up with subsequent leads. Can we please test for this or confirm that this is the desired behavior by zos? 1 lead ( not counting that tree ) in 56 treasure maps is terrible and the likelihood that this is bad rng is exceedingly low.

    @ZOS_Kevin

Im up to 63 treasure maps now with one 'second' lead. 63 treasure maps with 11 available leads is not rng
Something is definitely wrong with subsequent leads.

Can I get a refund on my archival fortunes while we're at it?

Just an update here. I am now 70 treasure maps into finding the second round if leads with one green to show for it...

It would be nice to know the free beta testing your paying customer base to zero in on a big in your game is being acknowledged by the software company youre offering your free time to. Just sayin... this and the 140k archival fortunes i have spent is worth that.

Is there any way you can share the drop chances for first, second and third drops of an item? Also, can you confirm that chances are pooled, meaning I have a chance to get A lead, and then rng will random determine which lead? Does quality of the lead factor in?

We are all playing the game tey8ng to get leads and it would be very nice to know our efforts are not wasted.

It is in fact a very noticeable thing, not just in West Weald but even with some base game antiquities, that second and third drops of the same lead are FAR rarer than the first.

An example - from one of the original set - is the Auri-El one in Western Skyrim (to be found in Blackreach). It's rare enough even the first time, but almost impossible to get a second time.

Ditto the moons blessed pool in South Elsweyr, the one whose lead apparently only drops from urns.

And we don't even ask about leads from maps in Necrom and West Weald. (I couldn't say about Solstice because I've *never* had a Solstice treasure map at all yet.)

Still trying to get 3rd lead from West Weald for Ayleid Window. I was up to 2 leads year ago, after that nothing. I've collected hundreds of WW treasure maps. I've used maybe 200-300k archival fortunes to buy WW maps (they were on vendor earlier this year and again last week), I spent all my Telvars when the maps were on Imperial City vendor. I've bought them from players, gotten them as loot. I'd assume I've gone through at least 500-600 maps and no lead. In fact last week when I burnt through dozens of them, only lead I got was the damn grand tree.

Its the same story again and again, and yet some bad faith people just call that "bad rng" :')

I've been testing Solstice Treasure Map leads (here's the related thread) and am going to stop when my stock runs out, soon. Even my initial morbid curiosity ("Since Apocrypha and WW were both bad, let's waste some of my gold to see how awful this is too so I can report it to other players") has totally gone.

Bad enough that many players are deciding to quit engaging with this system or even Housing / ESO altogether.

Folks talk a lot about this in all the different housing communities on Discord, etc. – many don't come to the official forums. (Even those who do come here, not all are willing to comment, maybe only click "Agree".) Many are just done – we'd rather ignore those furnishings existence. Which is sad, because the Housing team did great work on a lot of these! But if we can't get them, nor buy them if we do manage to unlock, it's pointless.

It's hard to believe that this is intended.

Personally, I've stopped buying West Weald maps entirely. I don't do the Skingrad dailies anymore either: https://moonpile.tumblr.com/post/792523535558049792/

If I visit WW at all, I'm really happy to get another Ayleid Grand Tree because we can use them for smoke effects! (Likewise other easy drops I already have, like Dibella shrines, and even Spellscar Shards because they make a really great hidden light; used here for example - it's what's making this space so warm:

    22ncalam8lsb.jpg

That is to say: I wish the team in charge of this system would come to understand that easier drops are a GOOD thing. Getting the items keep us building for days and weeks, instead of logging out in disappointment after yet another empty-handed run. And players who don't want more can simply let them expire or delete them.

I'm interested to learn what the Eastern Solstice "easy drop" will be.
But, with the possible exception of 1/3 codex which thankfully appears to be curated recently, I will be ignoring the Eastern Solstice Treasure Map system come U48. (Again, a shame, because the Housing team made some fantastic pieces available for U48. They're just wasted by this system.)

For me the 'death knell' of this mechanic was the event that rolled the loot from treasure maps twice.

Even doubling the 'rolls' per map there was no improvement on the drop rate of leads and at the time the devs said that it was 'working as intended' (which is still to this day the official line).

When considering the system as a whole:

    - Treasure maps do not stack and are 'unique' items; this results in a ludicrous amount of busywork regardless of the approach (trying to 'store' them using the mail system, alt accounts etc or 'unearthing' them as they come).
    - Treasure map pool is beyond diluted now, and at least regarding zones that only have two treasure maps levelled lists seem to be weighed to favour S.Elsweyr/Galen.
    - Antiquity furnishings are often multi-lead affairs.
    - Lead drop rate (beyond the first 'set') is atrocious.

You get four layers of inconvenience/adverse odds stacked on top of each other (with the last layer taking the moldy, stale cake in that regard).

If this is 'working as intended' - as the devs insist on - I can only conclude that whomever this is intended for that player is not me and the only sane course of action - in my case - is to disengage.

Completely agree with you ! i recently scream loud enough, that @ZOS_Kevin said that they will test that again.
We'll see, but i won't stop until this is fixed, i invested too much money in this to give up
