Having an inventory issue... transmutes! (undaunted event)

ZOS, please do something about transmutes. The event hasn't even started(day one) and I am already having inventory issues on multiple characters.

Maybe have all transmute geodes stack, or make transmute crystal storage unlimited for ESO+ players.

Thanks in advance!

PS: Already at 1k transmutes!

Two options, make monster sets you have all 6 copies and store for future use and store or transmute weapons for stones you then keep or sell
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Looking at upcoming leaderboard changes, seems their solution is giving less rewards: yey! Less transmutes...........
Not exactly the solution we wanted though.

They should just be uncapped period. ESO+ is already incentivized enough through the way that materials will fill up your inventory and bank space is limited when you’re not subscribed.

The transmute limit is just unnecessary. Not being subscribed is plenty aggressive and inconvenient enough to pressure people into subscribing without the transmute cap.

I'm drowning in reconstructed daggers whose only purpose is to "store" 25 transmute crystals apiece. I don't farm transmute crystals the way some players apparently do (going by what they say in these forums), but I regularly get 5 transmute crystals in Tales of Tribute reward coffers, or 25 transmute crystals in Rewards for the Worthy coffers, so whenever I amass over 975 transmute crystals I reconstruct another 4 or 5 daggers. I cringe when I open a reward coffer and see transmute crystals.

I've been at 1000 TCs since January and always destroy any new ones that I get. Been playing ESO for nearly two years now and still have NO idea what they are for or how to use them. Am I missing out on something important? /shrug

If you consider the amount of armor sets has at least doubled since the introduction of the sticker book, i think we are well over due an extension to the amount of storable tranmutes from a functionality perspective.

However like anything inventory wise, there will always be people that have issues irrespective of where they set a limit.

When i hit 1000 i tend to farm a bit of nirncrux or other materials from them.

You can use them to change trait on an existing piece of gear (e.g., change from Invigorating to Divines). Or use to recreate an item from scratch as many times as you want on as many characters as you want as long as you have collected that item once before on any character.

Make cheap weapons with no trait, use transmutation to change the trait from nothing to something, decon for a chance to get that trait material back.

Condense them into 25 crystal cost items. Convert them into Nirncrux. Or destroy them. Because any player that has so many that it's becoming an inventory issue, simply just doesn't have a need or use for them.

I personally agree that transmute crystals should be treated like any other non-CS currency and be uncapped regardless of ESO+ status.

I'm sure they originally capped it for a reason (and probably monetising the inconvenience did factor in the design), but as time passes and the game evolves systems - like Jewellery crafting was for instance - need to be reassessed.

Make a weapon > transmute to nirnhoned > decon for chance of Potent Nirn > sell nirn.

It still sells well or if you want you can use that potent nirn to make a tradeable weapon to sell for research, those typically sell for a bit more. 🙂

You can store geode equivalents on alt characters by simply reconstructing a 25 transmute cost item and putting it in the bank.

Whenever you deconstruct it it will refund you the 25 transmutes you spent.

just reconstruct a bunch of gear from sets that you already have fully collected. i've saved up 10,000 transmute crystals this way just by reconstructing 400 zaan's visages (end of the alphabet = bottom of the inventory) and spreading them across multiple characters.

or turn them into potent nirncrux that you can sell by transmuting some iron daggers to nirnhoned and deconning them.

I just make some weapons, apply the trait nirn on them and decon them all afterwards.

Just to elaborate on the other responses, once upon a time the game didn't have a "stickerbook" that keeps track of all the set gear you've collected from overland sets, dungeon sets, arena sets, trial sets, and monster sets. There was also no way to change the traits on dropped gear, so if you wanted a destruction staff from such-and-such a set with a specific trait on it, you might need to grind and grind for months or even years hoping to finally get one.

Then the Clockwork City DLC came out and added a transmute station and transmute crystals to the game. You could collect transmute crystals from doing Undaunted pledges and save them up until you had 50 transmute crystals, at which point you could go to the transmute station in Clockwork City and use your 50 transmute crystals to change the trait on the destruction staff you'd found that had the trait you didn't want and give it the trait you actually wanted to have-- assuming you had learned how to craft that particular type of destruction staff with that particular trait on it. At that time you could have a maximum of 250 transmute crystals, or 500 if you had ESO Plus.

Then a few years later the "stickerbook" was added to the game and the transmute station was expanded so that players can "reconstruct" any piece of non-craftable set gear which they'd collected in their stickerbook. The cost of reconstructing any piece of collected gear varies depending on how many pieces of that particular set have been collected and how many pieces there are in total-- from 75 (1 of 22 pieces in that set collected) down to a minimum of 25 (all pieces of that set collected). At the same time, the cap on transmute crystals was raised from 250 to 500, or from 500 to 1000 if you have ESO Plus. So now you can reconstruct any piece of dropped set gear, as long as you've collected it in your stickerbook, and specify any trait on it that you've researched for that type of gear. And if you deconstruct such a reconstructed piece of gear, you'll get back 25 transmute crystals from it-- assuming it isn't a reconstructed mythic, and even if you had had to spend 75 transmute crystals to reconstruct it. So you can either break even by getting 25 transmute crystals back from a piece of gear that had cost 25 transmute crystals to reconstruct, or lose as many as 50 transmute crystals by getting 25 transmute crystals back from a piece of gear that had cost 75 transmute crystals to reconstruct.

If you prefer, you can also still transmute the trait on a piece of dropped set gear for 50 transmute crystals, but assuming you have collected enough pieces of that set it might be cheaper to just reconstruct the piece of gear with the desired trait.

Agreed, ESO is an MMO, a genre that is known for being played for years and/or decades. Which means the in-game systems need to take that into consideration. In this instance with transmute crystals, but also with CP's, storage(bank/inven), housing, etc. In ESO the systems are all there, but not to complement being used by longterm players. Which is quite an oversight given the genre ESO is in, and which types of players the game attracts.
