    Subclassing
I would roll back subclassing and release it by only allowing characters to take *one* new skill line. That way the original class choice would still matter since you’re forced to keep 2. Then I’d test that for a year or so and debate if it’s okay to add two optional skill lines like we have now.

As far as the other choices, I’m one of the few people who absolutely loves Account Wide Achievements, at least on the surface level. When I was trying to knock out larger achievements with multiple qualifications and all my sub-achievements were being completed on different characters, I found that horribly annoying. (For example, the Deadlands Adept Achievement for Cit of Ash II. All my characters had multiple clears on CoA 2, but the components for that achievement were scattered across all 12 of my toons. The worst was the Bone Colossus Slayer. I had like 10 kills on an nightblade, 7 on a Templar, 5 on an DK, I just wanted to pool their kills together! After they made it account wide, my headache was relieved and streamlined.)

However I wasn’t a fan of the “bugs/features” that AWA brought like claimed Skyshards not registering properly on the map. Some of that is still annoying.

AwA really destroyed any desire to play a new game or a new character.
I liked the feeling of having unlocked an achievement. This feeling fades over time as achievements become increasingly rare. But on the other hand, they are new and sometimes more difficult.

It seems like a cop-out answer, but it is hard to pick one of these.

AWA, while we were told was necessary, was done in a way that did not include obvious things like Eidetic Memory. One character needs to read all of the books, ones in dungeons, trials, Cyrodiil, and other places. There are so many of them too. Surely making that AWA would have freed up a lot of space in the database. I can create a character more suited for trials and get achievements there, but I would have to start reading lorebooks on that character all over again to get that achievement. Then they had the audacity to add more achievements at least twice after AWA was implemented! All those commemorative ones that I had to go back and do anyway, since they hadn’t been tracked, like safeboxes and mundus stones. That is a real slap in the face.

Hybridization made every character, regardless of whether they were stamina or magicka, have to equip daggers on one bar and a staff on the other. I really hate this. It is said to be incomplete and there are calls to finish this, but I fear things would get worse if that were the case.

Even before hybridization the U35 nerfing of dots was a blow to dps builds. Before that everything was centered around this. Skill rotations became a nightmare afterward, skills had different timers and it just didn’t work as well.

Subclassing as a mandatory upgrade for end game activities was the final straw. No need to have more than one character if you do this, otherwise you have to respec every character to be the same. The option to not subclass wasn’t even considered during the development process.

So how do I rate these? Subclassing has affected me the most in a negative way, but perhaps it is because all of these other things came first and it is a cumulative effect. I could rank U35 or hybridization higher because they were near the start of the downhill slide for combat and perhaps if they had not happened the rest may not have as well. Out of all of these AWA is the least bothersome because there is some stupid random book from any bookcase that I have never read on my main, the one who has the most lorebooks, and I may never find it. There are also lorebooks in trials that she has not read, but she is not well suited for trials, I had another character for that. At this point getting all of the lorebooks just isn’t going to happen.

I dislike the new BGs but I wasn’t overly fond of the old BGs, though they were much more enjoyable than the 30 wins I had to get in the new BGs for the bear mount. I try to keep fighting even when it is a lost cause, but I just quit and spawn camped during one CTR where all my teammates were spread all over the map and I plus maybe one or two others were trying to get the relic and dying repeatedly. I even had one player on the other team give me a “gg” message for trying so hard. I can gladly avoid these now and be unaffected.

I think I have to still rank subclassing as the worst because of the chilling effect it had on end game activities both PvE and PvP. I feel it every time I go to Cyrodiil on my pure class character. I would feel it in trials in PvE if I went back to running trials again on a pure class character. I’ve had to make so many unpleasant changes to my characters with respect to all of these things, it’s just the final straw for me.

    Subclassing
It was a toss between subclassing and AwA, because they both rendered playing with alts more limiting or downright pointless, but I went with subclassing, because I don't like changes that homogenize the game and destroy variety, and (at least in the PvE side of things), all the players I know--damage and support included--are running the exact same thing, and before people say that has always been the meta, no, it wasn't; before subclassing there was still space to be competitive with different classes (and even different gear), now the beam meta (and the respective popular healer/tank lines for supports) have pigeon hole'ed everyone in the exact same way. ESO was great for people who like to play with alts, it wasn't designed with the 'jobs' feature in mind that FFXIV has, and now with subclassing that's essentially what we got. I subclassed my toons because I want to stay competitive to help my groups, but now the only reason I might choose an alt over another one is simply for aesthetics...

I don't feel anything needs to be rolled back and I like AwA. I do wish it was implemented better like others say. Subclassing for instance. Folk that dont' like to use it are left in the dust and can't compete with folk running subclassing skills. Hybridization is completely unfinished and needs to be finished better. Battlegrounds, they took away the game modes folk love and did these others which I don't mind but at the same time people love options. They'd participate more if they had the optionn for classic battlegrounds or the 4v4 or 4v4v4

I don't like tales of tribute either but I wouldn't roll it back. What I would change is how forced it is on you in the form of not making it quest related. Or an auto win feature against npcs to zoom through the quest.

I wouldn't "roll back" anything per se, but I wouldn't mind seeing adjustments to certain things, such as adding an option for 4v4v4 BGs while keeping 4v4 as an option-- if that's possible; there might be reasons (such as queuing issues) why it wasn't done that way to begin with.

The one update that really affected my overall gameplay was the one some years ago which made changes to resource use, such as skills requiring more resources than before and (I think) resources not regenerating as quickly. After that update it took a while for me to get back to (for example) being able to solo-capture resources in Cyrodiil, and even today I often find myself getting "stamina-locked" (or whatever players call it) where I don't have enough stamina to fire off any skills, can't do heavy attacks quickly enough to restore any appreciable amount of stamina, can't break free of CCs, can't dodge or block attacks, etc., and it just makes for a very miserable and rage-inducing experience. I don't know that I would roll back that old update, but I'd certainly love to see some adjustments made to alleviate the severity and lasting negative impact from it.

Subclassing for sure. You have all these systems already in place they could of used for it. But they chose the easy option and just full skill line dumped it without a negative.

Imagine being the dev that created the scribing system or antiquities then someone else just gets to copy paste haha.

    [...]

    This.

If I could choose, I'd remove both hybridisation and multiclassing.

ToT has been mentioned even though it's not in the options, but to be honest, I really don't care about that one. It's been out for how many years now and I have never ever played a single match. I have not done the tutorial. I haven't even spoken to the NPC that's peddling the damned game all over the place. At least until they shut her up by removing her from the main cities, thank Talos. It brings nothing to the game. It doesn't bring gear. Or collectibles. Or any meaningful achievement. If I want to have a fight against another player in ESO, I'll queue for PvP.

Companions, I actually like them. If I'm sitting on a support character that has 1500 DPS on a good day, then I'm very thankful for my companion when they kill the wolves or whatever is gnawing on my ankles at the time. And if I didn't like them, I could simply not summon them.

AwA was a big nail in the coffin for me. I used to love hunting things on my alts. Monster trophies. Rare fish. I ran the dailies to get the "do 30 of this" on them all. When AwA dropped, all of that was lost. There's little reason to run a dungeon several times after I got the achievement once. There's little reason to do dailies after I got the achievement. The *only* thing we still have is collection of motifs on multiple characters, but even that requires an addon to easily keep track because once the achievement is done on one, we have to go dig around Shalidor's lorebook archive to know whether this character knows a particular page or not. It's absurd. But I grew used to it, learned that indeed some things were good about this. Namely using titles on all alts (even though those could have just been made account-wide without the need for the achievements to do the same), and not needing to run this content on this character because that's the one I want the title in. Plus the achievement list on alts looks tidier this way.

But the absolute worst for me was hybridisation. I had a nice little guild. I had a group of people who I really enjoyed playing with, doing dungeons and trial trifectas. Then this update rolled in and suddenly, all I saw was "I hate this meta, I have more DPS but it feels so stupid to play this way." Or "I can't stand being forced to change the style of gameplay, and wearing a 2-handed sword on a magicka character who by all logical explanations should never EVER be using a sword, but if I don't do it, my DPS will be far, far too low. Been a mage since first day, and now the game forces me to gut the identity of my character. I'd rather go play something else."

One by one I saw them leave, upset at a company that did not care that we were having more fun before. Who asked for this? Werewolf players? Was that really all? I don't remember a single person ever saying "boy if I could mix stam and mag I would have so much more fun, and it would make so much more sense! A mage in leather armour and a big weapon that weighs more than they do sure sounds lore-friendly to me!"

And now this multiclassing deal? It made it even worse. There's no point in having several characters now. What should I play with ... My DK, my NB? My warden? Nah pick whatever, place these skill lines on them, and make them exactly the same as everyone else in the game because that's just what the meta is. I shouldn't care though. With no real group of friends to play with, all I do is solo overland and reminisce about the old days.

I've been saying it for years. It never sat well with me that the Devs simply say "the community asked for this", when all we saw in the forums were players pointing out how broken and unbalanced such a feature would be, if implemented on live. They don't care. They don't listen. I've been in ESO almost since the start and there has been one, ONE single instance where I got an email saying "hey we want to hear your opinion on X." Had they done this for every change in the game, then yes I would accept that they had data on what the players really want. But rolling changes literally no one asked for, saying it's so much fun, and forcing us to give up on the routine we had before, makes me feel like they truly don't care.

At this point it feels like they're simply out of ideas.

"What do the players want... Oh that's.... Well we could do that but it's probably not going to be balanced at all..... Give it to them anyway and let them figure it out? Sure.... That sounds perfect to me. We can distract them with some shiny mounts in the meantime, and figure out the rest as we go."

Bottom line is, all these changes have made me lose my friends, I'm now forced to play mostly alone, and it's making me very bitter towards it all.

I don't understand the flak the BGs changes are getting. I for one am okay with how they are now, but I'm a very, very casual BG player.

Before the change I would never queue for them. I am average at PvP on a good day, and securing 2nd place was about as much as I could expect on a good day. As they are now, there's like a 50/50 chance of actually winning instead of being stuck in last place all the time.

However I did notice there's more people wandering around the map, sightseeing as far away from any objective as possible now than we had before. Flags are north and center? Let's go wander around the southern side of the map. Their pins move so they're not dead, meanwhile I'm tanking like 6 enemies on the flag because there's no one else around.

Still. 50/50 is better than 30/70.

If I could delete one system from the game, it’d probably be Treasure Junk Maps. (Yes, even above Crown Crates, as explained here). There are even people who enjoy Crates and ToT which I don't... but I don’t know of a single soul who genuinely enjoys Map-locked Antiquity leads (except 1-2 players who consistently make contrarian and borderline-trollish comments; I can't call that genuine).

ALL Map chests drop mostly-worthless loot > 95% of the time. But it's a binary: A. New DLC Maps are so rare & expensive that they’re neither worth the time nor gold cost. Or B. others are totally worthless and can't stack, so we just destroy them.

    Aside:
I don't know what happened with AwA or why folks dislike it, I wasn't playing during that time. I only go after Achievements that unlock cosmetics I want: dyes, pets, furnishings, etc., so to me AwA is a great thing. I absolutely do not want to redo quests, Vet trials, etc. on multiple characters. I love that one of my mains can do the content once, and any character can then buy or use the item. (Although this is inconsistent: like Elsweyr still requires the character who did the quests to buy the items, as does the new Portal furnishing for the Solstice public dungeon. Surely these are bugs?)

In fact I wish we had AwA plan-learning too. It's lame having to log in and out to my crafter just to make a furnishing. And MOST of us have at some point accidentally eaten an expensive plan or motif on an alt - terrible!
