Update on Solstice Treasure Map Leads - Drop Data - Aug 5, 2025

The treasure maps in starter zones used to consistently drop 2 motif leads when the new ancestral motifs came out. I remember buying up Khenarthi's Roost maps for this purpose. It was changed not long after. I believe that's what the screenshot is referring to

    UPDATE – August 26:

    • TOTAL Sol maps spent ONLY on 2/3 codex = 62
    • EMPTY maps = 60
    • Maps since last lead: 45

A suggestion to fix this, bottom of this post:

A reminder that unless you're a collector / houser / etc. willing to waste 10s of millions on maps, don't even bother past 2/3 codex – As you can see, it is not worth it. It was the same in Apocrypha and West Weald (I quit WW early: terrible drop rates + can't buy the items after unlock = pointless). I only continue to do Solstice with the hope that ZOS might listen to us eventually, please.

You might know this better than I. What other furnishing in game even compares to the third treasure map antiquity furnishing? It's not the Ayleid bookcases or Fiery Brazier, because even as expensive as they are, they are a functionally infinite number of furnishings once purchased. I can't think of any individual furnishing that might cost as much, except perhaps crown furnishings purchased by converting gold to crowns?

TBH I'd compare it to furnishings in Crown Crates. Even that is more dependable.

I buy only very specific sets of crates, only with gold, and foremost to get good gem return via repeats. So I get packs I've bought before, where I like the bulk of the low-tier items, and get a lot of gems back. Spending 5-10 mil on crate packs pretty much guarantees enough gem return to get some items. (At least at <= 100-gem tier. The Apex tier is absurd; even if when I can "afford" furnishings in it, I typically choose not to. (I was really tempted to get 1 more of these: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Constellation_Projection_Apparatus - but nah, it's too much. Waste of a really great asset.)

With crates, at no point do I actually hope to "win" anything I actually want via natural roll. It's just a numbers game to get enough gems. One could say the same about "Treasure" Maps, but IMO they're worse:
    1. There's not really any way to circumvent their RNG (e.g. Endeavors, repeat pulls, etc.)
    2. Maps are also a waste of time! I hate crates but at least they're instant. With maps we have to play the inventory-management game since they don't stack, then run around like a numpty only to go "oh look, garbage worth < 500 gold again" for the 50th time in a row.

lol pardon me, I'm really trying hard to keep it low-sodium here :D

You're right though... some of us could afford an Ayleid bookcase plan or even one of those silly mushrooms by now.

Well, you heard it from the housing expert.

Is a single copy of this furnishing worth 50 USD to you?

If not, don't bother with Solstice treasure maps. Consider yourself warned.

Personally I have stopped trying to get TP/WW/Solstice furnishing leads from treasure maps past the 1st one.

If at some point in the future they introduce changes that make this 'chase' (as they like to call it) reasonable (stacking treasure maps, vastly improved odds etc) then I will return to it.

As it is right now the only winning move is not to play.

The apocryphal well taught me to not spend any extra time or gold on maps.
Found a map? Cool, will go check it out. Sell the green trash from it for 500 gold max and move on.
But won't buy maps from guild vendors.

    It's called a learning curve.

Haha ironically that's the one I unlocked first and at least it is buyable, yay! Took less than 20 maps I think, including 1/3 codex. Though not guaranteed for anyone else's pulls of course.

I am actually happy about it too, because I think these will be an amazing structural piece (if only the others were buyable too): https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/8355425/#Comment_8355425

    ...Now I'm just a bit sad :D
These assets are great, it's a shame they're buried too deep to reasonably be used.

Totally agree with @NoticeMeArkay and @ApoAlaia too, smartest move is not to play. I'm just taking the "squeaky wheel" route for now. (And all of my gold estimates are averages based on TTC avg / what you can easily find maps listed for; for these tests I only buy them if I happen to see it listed at a lower range that's OK to me. Though it'd be smarter to flip, still.)

Forgive me if this is slightly topic adjacent.

Why do leads for Mythics still drop once all found when you can recreate it via the Transmute station?

And I find the whole furnishings from leads utterly depressing. Especially for craft stations when you have to have found each part 3 times to be able to just buy it. That is not enjoyable game play.

And I cannot even begin to describe my frustration with the drops in IA. Awful awful awful.

Actually the IA arrangement with the leads has put me off IA completely.

It would seem that the chests in the 'side zones' have a much higher chance to drop leads that the 'regular' chests, alas I utterly suck at the 'side zones'.

I have managed to complete the speed one, the goat one and the 1v1 combat one just fine, but the ghost lights and the tomeshell hunt one I am stuck on the very last 'challenge', and without the ability to retry straight away after failure I... well, can't.

Unfortunately that is all the game offers me now, either one or the other which means no extra chance for leads or anything for me.

I am sure that there are players that enjoy this degree of punishment on top of punishment for just not being very good at something, but I am not that kind of player so I just avoid IA altogether, even when is a simple '5 minute thing' like for endeavours.

My issue with Treasure Maps is I never seem to pick any up. I don't even know where you'd find one, bc antiquities and treasure chests dont give me any anyways. How are we supposed to use these amazing furniture pieces if we can't even find the maps?

Even on days when I'm dutifully doing all the marauders and the side portals (except the hunting the tomeshell ones, I can never manage those), I never get any leads. All I get are style pages which I don't care about.

The situation with WW/IA leads is absolutely dire.

Yeah I was almost going to name this as Problem #3 in this comment – https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/8362641/#Comment_8362641 think it's been mentioned previously in this / other related threads too: There's no reliable way to get or farm maps. Even crates are technically more easily attained.

I've only gotten a few Solstice maps "naturally" (~ less than 5 since Solstice launch) via Azandar's folios and treasure chests in other zones. I don't think demand is the only thing driving maps' high prices either, I do think ZOS artificially lowers supply / drop rates when a zone is new. Compared to other zone maps that drop way more frequently.

Just a data update; starting to wonder whether it's bugged:

    Update: Aug 30:
TOTAL Solstice maps spent ONLY on 2/3 codex = 78
    EMPTY maps = 76
    Maps since last lead: 61

An entire month and 61 maps – ZERO leads. Surely this is not working as intended?

    Additional reports from other players:
    • Taking others ~300 maps to unlock specific leads, from Apocrypha to WW to Solstice. A Redditor said the Bismuth tower alone took them 260 maps.
    • Players on Discord saying they, like me, spend dozens of maps getting zero leads.
    • Screenshot: a player was running back and forth re-spawning the dirt mount so I decided to PM them and ask about it. It's sad that they agreed my numbers are accurate:

Anyone else who wants the Bismuth tower mostly for its lighting effects, please join me in requesting a craftable analogue: https://moonpile.tumblr.com/post/793348202781933568/

My hope is that the Housing team might be amenable to making a similar item, like they did with the Ayleid windows and others: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Ayleid_Window,_Large / https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Ayleid_Window,_Turquoise_Glass)

Not bugged. That's juat how the game's rng works. Sometimes it takes awhile. If you find this too grindy, don't play any other mmo. ESO is the least grindy of any of them out there.

Once again your comment is not constructive. Other MMOs are irrelevant. I play ESO primarily for The Elder Scrolls. I don't mind some RNG, but this is absurd.

There have been fewer than a handful of players such as yourself that ever comment in this way, that frankly comes off as condescending and strange. Usually in the style, paraphrased: 'Oh yeah well I opened 500 things and spent 50 million so deal with it'.

I ask you to reconsider this logic. We should not be in competition with one another about how much our time is abused. The purpose of this thread is to unite players to ask for improvements to a system that almost no one enjoys. (Speaking also for everyone who's talked about this in-game, in guilds, in Discord servers, etc.)

I don't know whether you're being contrarian on purpose, but if you want to keep commenting this way, for my part I will just use the given forum functions to disengage.

I have decided to write down how I am feeling about this:
My account was started at Beta. And sure I did not play for some time as the usual new game bugs drove many of us away for a while. But I have otherwise been here forever, owning 93 of the 114 homes thus far.
I play all the systems, enjoy most of the content. Have completed all but the repeatable Cyrodiil quests in the game. Have gathered all but the bugged books in the game. But the part that plagues me the most is still having not found all the Furnishing plans. And this is exasperated by what the OP has documented above.

It is so disheartening.. and frankly, severely reducing my enjoyment in this game. I understand that sometimes, with a game getting to the age it is, that some systems actually get less convoluted as Devs tend to streamline deep sinks in favor of new other content. But the 'loot pool' in this particular area (antiquities as well as furnishings / plans in general) is getting SO much worse, with nearly zero zone curation and mixing new items with more than 3k other (plans), some of which are almost as old as the game itself. (Homestead was Update 13 and came out in February 2017.)

I have been accused of farming (nodes and plans) a LOT! Some say that I don't get good drops if I farm too much... But I farm this much because I DON'T get drops.. How many Pattern: Rough Bedroll, Basic do you have to get before a new Epic Plan for that release in that new zone will drop? (this is just a silly example and not indicative of the actual loot practice I perform)

But why must this be so painful? Why must it continually get worse? And what else can we (furnishers and decorators, avid and casual alike) say to make our feelings heard, acknowledged and properly assessed and changed as needed?!

    👎

back in the day, people who were suspected of being a bot were shadow banned. put on worse loot tables. i wonder if this still exists and if this is what has happened to you. i used to run a tradeing guild and was privy to some funny rumors. the people who told me about the shadow bans where people who manipulated and controlled the trading market on ps4/5/na . they were quite smart. whats funny is you used to be able email support and request to be taken off the list. i would try it.
