Change the pet without erasing path

Don't know if this is the right forum, if not please move appropriately. I looked and couldn't find this question, so ...
I have a house with a cat that being a cat is on a pretty involved and wandering path - up and down stairs, wandering around rooms, various delays like nappiing on the bed or using the litterbox (put there to see who would notice, almost no one did), etc. I just bought a new cat I like better and would like to replace the current cat with the new one without having to redraw the fairly involved path. Is there any way to do this or is it possibly on the QoL wishlist?

    yes you can change pathed collectibles.
    When you are editing a Path there should be Path Settings you can go to, it lets you switch collectibles.

    i do it regularly with assistants in homes.

    OK, thank you, I'll take another look.

    edit: Found it, lower right corner of the screen. I'd been focused on the center where all the other commands were.

    I’ve always used it when I placed one of those morphing pets in a house, then have to “consume” the pet to upgrade it to a new item, and then get another version of the pet. I assume the pet will disappear from my house when I’m morph it into something so before I do it, I change it out to a different pet that won’t disappear, and then switch it back to the morphing pet when I get another one.
