You've let us mount in water, now let us mount in combat

I understand that you don’t want us to escape combat in Cyrodiil by mounting. That’s fine.

But in the PvE open world this is a complete non-issue.

And not only is the “you can’t mount in combat” system unnecessary, the gameplay loop it creates in the open world is also infuriatingly obnoxious.
  • You ignore mobs and continue to where you want to go, because mobs don’t do damage
  • Mobs follow you indefinitely until you eventually get to where you are going
  • Mobs then do one single attack and then disengage and run off

All in all it takes an insane amount of time to leave combat once it was initiated. And it gets initiated all the time, because without the Shadow Rider passive mob aggro range is way too large, so you aggro almost every single mob you remotely pass while riding or walking.

It happens often that 30% of the time spent traversing the open world is spent waiting at your target location to finally interact with the object until the system finally decides that mobs have de-aggroed. And god forbid you ran to a location where now the mobs have spent 1 minute on pathfinding to the location only to finally realize they can't reach it. Then you can go and make a cup of coffee, because you're not going to be interacting with any object any time soon.

The easy solution is to just let us mount and interact with objects in combat.

The harder solution is to rework the in-combat system fundamentally so that it’s not so obnoxious. I’ve played A LOT of other rpg games, and in no other single game is the in-combat system so noticeable and frustrating as in this game.

Why, oh WHY are we forced to dismount when interacting with the daily crafting writs board? Or the crafting stations for that matter? We are awesome and shouldn't have our time wasted by being forced to dismount only to re-mount a moment later once we pick up a writ assignment.

"It will break the game engine/the game engine doesn't support it" in 3, 2...

They've only just added swimming for mounts after 10 freaking years, I don't expect them to add anything else so radical any time soon or ever.

You still can't mount while in water. So I doubt they will add this.

That actually could be done easily. Just make the same cooldown as with doors.

You can go through a door even in combat. But not if you have been recently hit. It takes a moment after your last hit and then you can interact with the door.

Same could go for mounting. After the last hit, same cooldown as with doors -- when you can interact with a door, you can also mount.

And they wouldn't even need to make this separate in Cyro. You still can't escape by mounting because the enemy is actively hitting you. But when you are travelling between keeps with the combat bug, you could still, after a while, mount even when in combat.

I disagree with that statement. There are specific PvP skills to deal with mounted opponents. It seems silly they only apply at the start of combat (when everyone is mounted and charges in).

You should be able to mount anywhere, but doing so in a public building or shop should be an illegal act (like necro skills).

You can mount in water? I know you won't dismount and mounts can now swim. Didn't realize you can mount while swimming ('course I haven't tried either).

After I aggro a mob I can sprint across a pretty large area before it decides I'm allowed to mount again, sometimes just standing there for 10-20 second waiting for it to let me.
    It's a bit much.

They should at least make the cooldown a LOT shorter.

Get the Dark Brotherhood passive, Shadow Rider, mobs agro range become super low. You can ride anywhere without aggroing anything. and if you accidentally still manage to agro, they take 2 seconds to kill. You will be fine.

You only need to hit them once and they will get Invulnerable and run back to their original spawn point. Use AoE skill if they are large mob of smaller creatures to trigger this for all NPC in mob and for normal larger NPCs use AA from weapon and they should get Inv, disengage and return back to spawn.

Down side with this is that you will need to dismount when using weapon or skills. The other issue is that might trigger NPCs that are hostile (red HP and name tag) or hit neutral NPC (yellow bar and name tag) which turns those into hostile (aggro) mode.

If one want to avoid all NPCs if possible, then group up and use teleport to group/guild/friend list member or any tools that will move you to one of those that are on that list that are close to where you want to go. The real issue here is when one need to interact with objects or when one need to pass through doors like in dungeons, this be an issue, especially if the time for respawning creatures or mobs are very short.

Kill one group and next respawn before you have had enough time to get out of combat is more an issue then a random hostile NPC following player until it get one hit to change its status from aggro to inv.

You will not notice it as easy as when you would when being forced off your mount, which could happen even for a small puddle of water or crossing a river where you had depth of up to ankles of mount and where dismounted. Now you can stay on mount where you would need to change into swim mode which is slower mode then normal movement forward.

Upgraded mounts from AwA skills (passive which give 15% increase of mount speed - one reason PvE should do at least enough quests and stuff in Cyrodiil to get this skill line passive unlocked as that helps a lot for a fresh PC even in PvE content), from CP and from using gear or mythic items that give mount (normal movement speed increase) will make mounted movement in water much faster, then swimming would do (as long there is no dedicated mythic or CP to change this).
