In update 47 ZOS have made a long overdue change to Battlegrounds. For the first time since they introduced the two-team BGs, games are once again able to start without full teams. Since the change on Monday, I have not had one single BG time out, this is an incredible improvement and one the player base has been asking for since U44. It's not a full roll back, in so much as the games still need at least 3 people per team in 4v4 or 6 people per team in 8v8, but this small change has made all the difference. Games always failed to load waiting for the last one or two people to fill, and that is no longer a thing. In 9/10 games, the missing person fills during the "waiting to start" 45 second timer.
@ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_NickD Not sure who to tag here, but seriously, thank you for fixing this situation. Is someone able to comment on whether the underlying issue of MMR resets was also addressed? Because games starting is amazing, but without first stopping the monthly MMR resets, I think the significance of this change will be lost on a lot of people who are victims of the unfair matchmaking.
Maybe MMR resets have already been addressed and not included in the patch notes, but if it's possible for a ZOS employee here to respond, rather than having to wait until the start of the month to find out would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any consideration for including changes to the BG maps in patch notes going forward? There have been many changes to the maps/sigil mechanics that haven't been included in patch notes (for instance power sigils being nerfed, or how sigils once grabbed would effect everyone in proximity, but now only effect the team of the person grabbing it, minor changes to environments/removing invisible walls). Some of these changes have been good, some have been bad, but the recent changes have been incredibly thoughtful: U47 lobby fix, and the underappreciated U46 fix to make the power sigil to the right of the base in Reman's Folly correctly glow red, instead of blue, so you are able to identify before the match starts.
It would be nice if BG players were given the same consideration as other groups of players when it comes to inclusion in the patch notes.
That being said, good job, keep it up! I hope we see more stuff like this going forward!
Thanks for reading.
