hey, maybe play an actual PvP game, and then you'll see that roles exist, its the core fundamental in a 4 v 4 game, understand the difference between BATTLE ROYAL lmao , IM SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING NO HEALER, TEAMED UP WITH THE LOWEST CP IMAGINABLE, LMAO IM DEALING A MILLION DAMAGE FOR NOTHING, AND WHY DONT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT WE CANT CONTROL PEOPLE LEAVING SO WHY DO WE HAVE TO LOSE OUR MMR BECAUSE OF YOUR FLAWED DESIGN? OH HE/SHE IS SICK OF BG AND WANTS TO LEAVE? SURE YOU'RE WHOLE TEAM WILL ALSO LOSE MMR, WHAT KIND OF GAME DOES THAT LMFAO

IS IT THAT HARD TO MAKE THE GAME FUN? I DONT MIND LOSING , BUT LOSING BECAUSE OF THE TEAM DRAFT SCREAMS FAKE PVP , THIS IS THE MOST ANNOYING MODE I HAVE EVER SEEN NO WONDER ITS UNPOPULAR. NOT GETTING ANY RECOGNITION , THE REWARDS FOR LOSING AND WINNING NEEDS TO INCREASE GOD WHAT AJOKE

It simply doesnt work that way. Players will just que whatever is the fastest roles.

Instead all you need to do is save the last match's variable for healing done and use that to balance out the team's healing. Then if the player changes their build from a healer to a dps, it would atleast correct itself within a match.

Of course new player experience is getting ruined mostly due to Zos RESETTING the mmr, so you have 10 year vets with 5k+ hours in pvp fighting people with hundreds of hours.

Not that I think an MMR reset was the answer, but a persistent MMR like we had before the revamp was just as problematic in the other direction.

There were plenty of times that a newer player who got lucky and dropped onto a good team would then end up with an inflated MMR score that ended up sticking them in unwinnable matches for ages. And yes, that also led to these new players not sticking around once they were continually outmatched.

MMR does need to decay over time or with losses to prevent that latter option, but a full reset just brings those problems the other way as you say.

But one of the biggest issues is that the population just isn’t there. I know I pretty well stopped BGs after the update because I’m not a fan of the new format.

And then there’s the elephant-in-the-room issue: newer players and those who aren’t as confident tend to enjoy playing the objectives, which naturally puts them in conflict with the players who aren’t on the “every game is deathmatch” train. You’ll never be able to come up with a solution that addresses both of those parties, and making a DM vs Objective queue will really mean queue times will be in the gutter.

I agree with the overall consensus that MMR shouldn´t reset every month, however I do think a reset should occur every once in a while (maybe once every 2-3 patches maybe?). I know PCNA doesn´t have the issue with enough consistent/veteran players queuing for BG´s and your BG community is quite "healthy" in a sense. As someone who plays on PCEU can tell that the amount of competent veteran players that would be a part of whatever "higher mmr" would mean, wouldn´t be enough to sustain a healthy population with competitive matches. I´m all for waiting a little longer if the game is likely to be more fair, but there is obviously a limit to how long I like to wait as well, and unfortunately the hidden MMR together with the limited amount of BG lobbies that can occur at any given time does play a huge role in that.

You could probably bake it into the seasonal system or something where you lose 20% of your mmr. Or say the MMR isnt a defined ladder and is just stages like Bronze, silver, gold. You could step people down a stage each half year or something.

The problem comes that BGs are not a daily thing for everyone. Even some top players leave eso for multiple months at a time. I know I tend to do a month or two before leaving for a month or two (usually hope that the next patch brings any significant changes) So these step down or rest features may just nuke a significant part of your playerbase into the same scenario as before with resetting mmr.

I'll be sincere with my perspective: This game isn't what I go to for hyper advance pvp. To be clear, i have games for that. Tekken, Valorant, Pokemon VGC, MArvel rivals, occasionally. I do eso PvP for caual appeal. I am too old to be spazzing over these matches.

Adding roles wouldn't fix any of that. At all. You would need a hypercomplex match making system for eso in particular simply because of the freedom ZoS gives players. Not getting into that. Probably wouldn't help. Just lnow there is no "just" to put that in in any game, let alone a game like this.

The point is, if we are playing with randoms, that is just part of the experience. Thats why it's called randoms. Once you accept that you will have 2 options:

Chill or join a Guilds. Relax in guild or you will get banned with the quickness. I do both. If I am doing something on a day the guild isn't running anything, then I accept the matches i am going to get. then chill with what i get till i go to work or the doctor or the gym or whatever.

So that people can ignore the role selection and pick whichever role has the shortest queue times like they do in PvE? No thanks.

Also, if someone on your team leaves you don't lose any MMR at the end of the match - the game even tells you this with a pop-up in the corner of your screen when someone leaves the match.

The roles are way more mixed-up in PvP, as opposed to PvE with 3 clear-cut general roles that content is specifically built around.

In solo queue PvP, any character might have a combination of tankiness, group healing/support, crowd control, burst, and sustained damage.

If they had a 1v1 mode (I know duels are a thing), that could be used to bring an individual's MMR up or down closer to their actual rating so that when they do join a 4v4 or 8v8, they'll get into a group that is more appropriate for them.

Duels are different fights to 4 v 4 BGs which are different to 8 v 8 BGs which are different to IC which is different to Cyro
