There's no actual info in the post, but they do post on other sites if you want to avoid that one:

It's a video asset uploaded on social platforms. The forum doesn't support video unfortunately. However, we have updated the thread to just have the graphic.

I thought I had updated the Q3 graphic. I'll take a look and update if I missed it.

The Writhing Wall Event technically takes place in Q4. So we will have a graphic for Q4 and the event will be included. I am working on building that out now.

I think it's going to be a competitive race to see which server unlocks the other side of Solstice first, so maybe the end date will be... whenever the server(s) you play on unlocks the other side of Solstice? That is, maybe the overall end date for the event is difficult to give in advance?

I would be interested to see how this event will work logistically.

We know that the event goes in three phases, but the third and final phase (culminating in the wall coming down) will not be available until U48. This means that the U48 patch will need to drop in the middle of the event, which also implies that the U48 PTS should start soon. The Q4 patch tends to land during the Witches’ Fest event, so will there be conflict there?

If the timing of the phase 3 beginning is related to each server’s performance in phases 1 and 2, then we’d need the U48 patch to land before that point on any server, and that does imply that if it happens during the event that PC and console will need to patch simultaneously, which would mean that PTS needs to start even earlier. If PTS is a 6-week cycle, and then there’s another 2-week loadtime for console, that means PTS would already need to have started if the patch were for all servers before the event.

Also, Witches’ Fest can’t exactly move much as it overlaps Halloween, so if the wall is long enough, would those two events overlap? The Wall doesn’t seem to be a ticketed event from PTS testing, so it could theoretically overlap.

All that saying: please everyone be aware we will have a patch (and its associated downtime!) in the middle of the Wall event, and we likely will also have Witches either overlapping or immediately following the Wall.

Damn man that's a really good point. Does PC get 2 weeks on us if we're all trying to bring the wall down and it really is a competitive thing? We know that the patches can come simultaneously. Other MMOs do it, ESO just doesn't which always struck me as weird. I have a feeling this is a scripted thing with a predetermined outcome. The tasks shown on the pts are kinda like when we were "working" to bring the brotherhood of steel to West Virginia. We had to fill up some meters but it's not like they weren't gonna come if we didn't.

Maybe @ZOS_Kevin can share some insight on the patch question.

How exactly will the zone main quest play after the event with a new character?

Main quest and side quests are all talking about the great big wall. If this wall is not there that is a huge oversight in storytelling. Or are you going to put up the wall per player instance? (which could give issues when grouping)

I think in that other post, this was also answered a little bit vaguely, but what was said is that there are plans in place to preserve the continuity of the story after the event. We may not get to see how this works until the event is over.

Looking forward to this event, luckily this event's start date also gives me enough time to complete the new zone still. Haven't been there yet.

How exactly can we expect this event to change Tamriel forever? Is this due to the new zone area being added to Tamriel? Does the event unlock some kind of new/changed gameplay? Maybe in some completely other way this event changes Tamriel?

Or am I just expecting too much here?

Sure its a new thing with competition between servers but why would that change Tamriel forever?

If I can Dream abit lol, you unlock the zone and its a Crossplay zone 😁

… you may want to lay off the hopium there.

We already know what’s coming: the other half of Solstice. It’s not even going to be a new zone, it’ll just be the blocked half of a zone we already have. It will “change Tamriel forever” in the same way that opening upper Craglorn or completing the part of Coldharbour zone quests opened northern Coldharbour did.

Kevin and Rich have both talked about crossplay being in the works, but it’s a lot more technical than just flipping a switch. The megaserver architecture basically has to be rebuilt in order to allow it. There’s no reason that they would put in all of that work to then restrict it to (half of) one single zone.

It was more of a joke that it would be a crossplay zone.

But change Tamriel forever seems like weird advertising for unlocking half a zone.

Because “come unlock the other half of a zone, featuring 100% more Coldharbour!” doesn’t sound as impressive.

I’m sure they do have some big stuff in the works, but I’m not convinced it’s connected to the wall. There’s still a lot of tentpole features that they could add down the line, and the biggest things tend to land in the summer patch.

Just to clarify, the "change Tamriel forever" is more for the story we are telling with the Writhing Wall than game function. But also, this is the first time we are running an event like this. So kinda fits theme wise there as well.
