The bloom effect is visible through walls.

SpellbreakerWizard
The bloom effect is not occluded when an obstacle is close to the light source.
This occurs in most wayshrines where columns are sufficiently close to the light source (the effect shines through the wayshrine columns),
in Psijic portals, chests in the Imperial City, and many other places (examples in screenshots).

Wait until you start decorating houses and that "bloom" travels through every known obstacle(even solid stone walls of the houses) and lights up everywhere!

It's a pet peeve of mine and it really annoys me!! :|
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Agree and I really don't like when furnishings have this. The lantern flowers we got for free are cute but the glow is not. I even use more slots to cobble braziers together to make fires without glow, hiding ones that don't have it inside the outer shell of one I like :(

I wish it could be turned off or toggled, at least / especially for furnishings.

I never thought to report it as a bug, just thought this was intentional or an unavoidable side-effect of using this type of volumetric glow. But it'd be nice if it could be changed.

Also the Bloom setting in Video does not turn this effect off.

If it wasn't for this, I never would have seen that portal.

The only exceptions I've found among wayshrines where the effect is blocked are the ones in West Weald, Blackwood, and Deadlands. These wayshrines are larger, so the obstacle between the light source and the camera is far enough from the light source that it starts to block the effect (like I said, when the obstacle is close to the flame of the wayshrine, it stops blocking that glow effect).

I agree with @Malyore, this is often how I spot Psijic portals.

And in the Imperial City, it's helpful for locating Tel Var chests.

In Cyrodiil, it can sometimes help you locate the Transitus Shrine inside a keep (from outside the keep) if you can't remember whether it's in the front corner near the keep's gate or in the back corner near the siege merchant.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

I have my bloom effect turned off and still can see psijic portals through objects.
  • SpellbreakerWizard
It's true, turning off bloom doesn't work for this. I just didn't know what else to call it.

This looks like some sort of order-of-render problem where those effects are being rendered *after* the meshes have. I have seen other games and also Second Life over many years have a similar issue.

Since ESO now utilises Dx11, this should be easy to fix.
