Credit for kills with "scribed skills"

Why do we get credit for kills with scribed skills for endeavors when the "scribed skill" is just a different color appearance for the skill, but it doesn't work for the golden pursuits kill with scribed skills? Cause the only "scribed skills" i have on my plar or DK are different colors for some of the skills and those skills always complete the endeavors. But I am at 0 of 100 on the golden pursuit.

Skill styles and scribed skills are 2 different things.

The different color is a skill style that just changes the color of a current skill. Using a skill that has a skill style on it will get credit for "defeat so many enemies using a skill style".

A scribed skill is a completely new skill that is created with scribing. The players needs to create a new skill and use it, and this new skill will get credit for "defeat so many enemies using a scribed skill".

@tauriel01 asked why styled skills counted towards endeavors but not for pursuits. They seem to know what the difference is…

The answer is: Endeavors should not count styled skills when they actually ask for scribed skills. This is another bug.

The OP stated that the only "scribed skills" they have are different colors. But those are skill styles, not scribed skills so I clarified the difference.

OP knows that. That‘s why the scribed skills are in “s. The only question was why styled ones counted for the one but not for the other task. And the answer is inconsistency or bug between endeavors and pursuits.

The Golden Pursuit is asking to defeat enemies with scribed skills, but the OP stated that the only "scribed skills" they have are different colors, which are skill styles. This is why it's not counting.

Just did a quick check with 1:- A skill that has simply had a recolour or "Skill style" used on it and 2:- A skill that was made at the Scribing Altar.

For the weekly endeavor this week which states "Kill 250 Enemies with Scribed Skills" number 1 did not advance the count but number 2 did, and the same happened on the Golden Pursuits.

For clarity I used the top skill in this picture as the "scribed" skill and the bottom skill as the "Skill Style" or "recoloured" one.

If the op is saying a skill such as the recolour I used is advancing his count for the weekly then that must indeed be a bug.

Edit to add:- There are also two different sets of two pursuits 1:- Is Cast 10 Skills with active Skill Styles and also then 50. 2:- Is Defeat 100 Enemies with Scribed Skills also then 300. Maybe op is mixing those up?

Attacking an enemy (mob, boss, whatever) with a scribed skill and then killing it (whether or not the killing blow was done with a scribed skill) counts toward both the endeavor and the pursuit; there is no inconsistency between how they work.

Skills that are just a different color are not scribed skills; they are skill styles. There are endeavors to cast skills while skill styles are applied to them, and those also work as intended.

I have never seen either of those two endeavors work differently than expected, but I have seen players post questions about why using a skill with a skill style applied did not count toward using a scribed skill to kill things. The answer is, skill styles are not scribed skills; you can collect skill styles and apply them to skills without even having access to Scribing and without scribing any skills at all. Players sometimes get the two things confused, and that is what it sounds like the OP has done.

Actually, I had no clue there was a difference between a scribed skill and a skill that has a scribed style applied. I'm just not that into scribing. And it's also entirely possible I never made a distinction between whatever endeavor wording was getting completed by attacking stuff with skills of different colors and what the golden pursuit is asking for, so I appreciate SilverBride for clarifying.

And now I know why my golden pursuit isn't advancing... and likely never will lol

Styles are not scribed. They have nothing to do with scribing.

I generally complete the "kill X enemies with Scribed Skills"... when you complete the Scribing quest you HAVE to scribe at least one skill, in the Soul Magic line... I use that spell and go round shooting chickens, rabbits, lizards and sheep with it. (Be careful, some of these animals are owned and you may have to wait for the owner to walk away, or kill them, to avoid getting a bounty.)

So if you see flocks of dead sheep all over Khenarthi's Roost, and a bunch of fried chickens in Daggerfall... that's why.

I use that skill a lot in regular PvE overland wanderings (quests, resource hunts, antiquities, ...) So much so that I've never had to actively think about it as far as endeavours go! I've since added a Travelling Knife one as well, so it goes by even faster. This has the downside that I sometimes forget which are scribed and which are base class skills when it's the other thing you need, but it rarely matters that much due to rotation.
